video codec???

can someone please explain the mpg h.264 codec for me?
i'm using pinnacle studio and would like to encode any future video clips i produce with that codec.
how can that be done?
 
use megui or super or staxrip or handbrake. encoder would be x264. if you have any doubts, I can help you.
