Video Conversion Software

Hi,

I have been using Format Factory for converting videos across formats
and also to convert videos to phone resolutions.
It takes a very long time to convert which is equivaltent to duration of
the video at times even more.
It took 3 hours to convert a movie of length 2 hours.
Is this the same with other convertors?
Are there any other convertors which are faster?
I use both windows or Linux(ubuntu)

Only freeware please ;-)

any converters which use OpenCL ? maybe free.. or cheap ?

I have seen some converters which use CUDA processors and its way faster than normal cpu conversion

I use xilisoft video converter for converting videos to mobile videos.

Its much faster then handbrake, though my system is powerful enough, yet it takes longer time to convert videos

try downloading the 360p videos from utube using Jdownloader (Just copy the utube Url after starting jdownloader)

very small size but Very good quality, looks damn good on My pixi+

OpenGL right? AFAIK, only Adobe After Effects uses it

OpenCL is this Sire Open Computer Language, mostly used by older VLIW architecture based AMD graphics card to do compute oriented workloads, with the advent of GCN in AMD R79** series I think OpenCL will gradually loose its importance --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenCL.

Now AMD cards can also use CUDA based softwares and will perform in OpenCL area as well. The bone of contention is AMD HD 7970 blew the GTX 580 is CUDA based benches [which were previously biased to nVidia CUDA equipped GPU's].

hope this clarifies things, this what is OpenGL [Open Graphics Library] --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenGL.

Hope this helped, Cheers!!
