So. I use a Toshiba Qosmio 890. But during my video renders on virtuadub it struggles.
So I guess I need a good CPU
How are the AMDs with built in graphics. Are they any good for mid range gaming and video rendering.
Will be going for good quality monitor and need something which can do video processing and image processing. I think anything capable of this should be capable of some medium end gaming.
  1. What is your budget?
    • 45K
  2. What is your existing hardware configuration (component name - component brand and model)
    • NADA/ZILCH - USE a laptop now
  3. Which hardware will you be keeping (component name - component brand and model)
    • NA
  4. Which hardware component are you looking to buy (component name). If you have already decided on a configuration then please mention the (component brand and model) as well, this will help us in fine tuning your requirement.
    • CPU - AMD with built in graphics or go for Core i7 latest version
    • Motherboard - Compatible stuff
    • GPU - Mid range GPU would be nice
    • PSU -
    • Monitor - 21" atleast with 4K resolution
    • HDD - 4TB total capacity - Or 3TB+3TB in RAID for those failures. 128GB SSD for OS
    • Cabinet - Budget cabinet
    • Blue ray burner - If they are cheap, don't use them though
    • Windows 7 64bit. Can I buy this somewhere - Whats the cost?
    • 8GB RAM
  5. Is this going to be your final configuration or you would be adding/upgrading a component in near future. If yes then please mention when and which component
    • Get more HDD - So need another HDD slot maybe
    • 8GB more ram in future
  6. Where will you buy this hardware? (Online/City/TE Dealer)
    • New Delhi
    • Open to online purchase - but nehru place preferred
  7. Would you consider buying a second hand hardware from the TE market
    • No
  8. What is your intended use for this PC/hardware
    • Gaming - Mild
    • Video render - After effects, Avisynth etc.,
    • RawTherapee, hugin and image rendering
    • Watch HD videos on HDTV via HDMI
    • Download rig, 24x7 operation
  9. Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them and the reason for your preference/dislike.
    • Need quality and reliability
  10. If you will be playing games then which type of games will you be playing?
    • FPS - At medium rez
    • Racing - Medium settings
  11. What is your preferred monitor resolution for gaming and normal usage
    1. Gaming - 1280x720
    2. Desktop - 4K or close
  12. Are you looking to overclock?
    • No
  13. Which operating system do you intend to use with this configuration?
    • Windows 7 64 bit

For what you want you're looking at expenses close to a lakh. You should browse the net and see prices. 4k Res monitor >60k, i7 > 20k depending on version, windows 7/8 around 8k, 8GB ram 6k, 2TB hdd 6k, motherboard would cost from 8k to 18k depending on chip set, bluray drive 7k, mouse & kbd around 1k, cabinet around 4k, power supply around 6k. :|

  • CPU - Intel Core i5 4440 -12400,
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte B85M-D3H -5500,

Okay, maybe not 4K, how about a monitor with 1440 on the height and around 2600 on the width?
And I can do without GPU.
Just go with AMD FX 8250 which does a decent job of video render as well as image processing with its 8 cores(or is it 4 cores and 8 threads?)

If you want to go with an AMD Config then here it is:

  • CPU - AMD FX8320 -9400,
  • Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3P -5800,
  • GPU - Sapphire R9 270X 2GB -15100,
  • PSU -Antec VP550P -3600,
  • Monitor - Dell S2240L LED IPS -8200,

  • RAM - Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600Mhz -5800.
  • TOTAL -57,100.
  • For a 1440p monitor only Korean monitors are available for a reasonable price but the import cost is too much then.
  • This is the only 1440p monitor available here: Dell U2713HM LED 27" -45k

Prime has a few 27" Asus 2k led monitors at around 28k - 40k. All of them are IPS or AH-IPS panels.
At OP's budget only a full HD monitor will be possible.

Okay full HD monitor = 10K
No graphics card ~ -15K
This means I can go for a 8350 kind of 8 core system?
I will ditch the card for now, or use a cheaper 5-6K GPU if it will give me better performance over the APU

Er, 8320/8350 do not have built in gpu on them. Only the A series type of cpu's have them.
You will need to get 7750 or 7770 or something like that which comes at around 8k.
