After 35 months you'll probably get a 42" Plasma for 20990 ;)

AFAIK this is an old offer, which no longer exists... not sure though. Probably it was such a flop that Videocon no longer advertises it.. :D And I couldn't find the Videocon Jumbo 34" TV anywhere, when I was looking around last month.

I wasn't interested in buying a CRT TV.. but did not want to spend a lot on current LCD TVs.

Since wanted to experiment bought this Videocon Jumbo 34" TV.

This offer is still valid and you have to hunt a bit to find dealers selling Videocon, since most of the big chains/outlets don't deal Videocon anymore.

I should say this TV is equal/better than (because of screen size)
29" crap from LG/Samsung, which sell for min 14k. Picture and audio quality on this TV are decent.

At "CRT TV" level this big size screen actually feels good to watch.

When you want to buy ask for a demo with Dish/Tata Sky, and you will like it. It does not mean that you would need a Dish/Tata Sky connection, even normal Cable wala will do, which is the same I have.

I had a choice not to buy the plasma bond for 7k, but later went ahead and bought it. If I don't like the 32" plasma then.. I'll simply gift it to somebody.
I feel it is definitely better buy than any other 29" CRT now.

13K for a 34 inch TV is quite good. Last time I checked (which was about 3 years ago) a 34 inch was available for arund 40K.
Until LCDs become more affordable and better in quality, these large screen CRTs are a great alternative.

I don't like to pay advance on anything so I would not go for the 7K offer for a plasma. If plasmas don't cost 7K within the next 3 years or if the manufacturer will make a loss in fulfilling this condition, he will quote some condition and screw you. Such schemes are not designed with your benefit in mind but are short term ways of getting revenue to stay alive in a cut-throat consumer goods market.

I am not a videocon fan or anything, neither do I suggest someone to buy this TV.

Either on this or on some other forum I read a post about this.
One guy was explaining that, right now if a 32" plasma is produced it will cost around 15-20k (Dealer price). Then after 3 yrs, it is very much possible to give plasma a 7k as dealer price, as Videocon directly gives this TV to the customer ... no dealers involved.

I'll post the link for the above post when I find it again.

I, for one, do not think it's a short term gimmick. It would have very bad impact on their reputation if they plan to cheat you.

Oh, BTW, the bond says .. if you want to buy the plasma TV after 1 yr you have to pay 20k, after 2yr around 10k ... after maturity of the bond it is absolutely free.

Even without the plasma, a 34'' TV for 13k is an excellent deal...
Can any1 tell me the physical size of the TV...if it right size, I may consider it for my room..

Plasma will be probably be totally outdated in 3 years.

If quality is not a concern for you, go for Videocon. Otherwise run as fast as you can from it.

^^That's not true, Videocon CRT's r pretty decent quality wise...infact I still prefer my ten year old videocon challenger to my recent sony wega crt for normal tv viewing

Plasma can be used at least as a bedroom/Kitchen TV. Not like you can't you use it at all.

@vebk: Have you actually got to compare Videocon Jumbo with any other brand CRTs ?

If not better, it is as good as any other brand CRT. Only Sony feels very mildly better. That is all. There is not point in making blanket statements.

Videocon Jumbo 34" TVs are available in the NEXT Chain of showrooms. They are the official Videocon dealers.

I bought this TV for my living room and it sure is a good bet! Good sound at 800W output. Picture clarity is also good comparatively. Great TV watching experience.

Like 'skidrock' explained, you could redeem the bond in the 1st or 2nd year for a 32" Plasma TV by paying additional amount. I hear that some of the showrooms are offering the TV at Rs.13K and retaining the bonds with themselves to claim the Plasma TV later! No comments here!

The TVs in the rest of the brands have a 1 year warranty and Videocon offers 5 years warranty too.

As a user of Videocon Jumbo 34", I would suggest to 'GO FOR IT'. Its 'Value for money'!

is this offer still going on .. 13 k for 34" sound a excellent deal ..since i already have tata sky connection .. is it available only in next showrooms?

LG and Samsung TV's are way better than Videocon. Some of my colleagues including my room mate got a Videocon 29" TV from our company as a gift, but everyone who tried them got the opinion that they are crap.
