Security Software Virus caused Pendrive to shrink in size (volume)

This is really weird. I have this laptop which is virus infested. This virus has spoiled couple of my pen drives as in these pen drives are now reporting incorrect sizes. A 4GB sandisk pendrive when plugged in (any machine) shows memory as 16KB or MB, i dont know. Also formatting the pen drive does not help as the format window shows that diminished size :S
What can i do to revive the pen drive to get the proper size ??
 
Do a dos format to your pendrive. Like the one to make it bootable for loading windows and then back to normal.
I have seen it work.
 
what is the brand, because i read a similar some time back and some suggested to format with the format utility from the vendor
 
^^ I know it is not fake at all. It is sandisk pendrive (that steel colour with silicon type cap and silicon type body cover) and i have used it a lot and it is 100% not fake. And one more transcend has gone kaput for same reason so i am 100% sure they are not fake.
 
@ggt, but OP said that he have couple of dead pen drive and also his sandisk pen drive is having problem, so i dont think thats just an issue of fake pendrive
 
The virus seems to be destroying their firmwares on their ROMs. Only way left is RMA, of if you can procure somehow the utility used to flash/reload the firmware, them it might work.

i know that but what i meant was to just check if they were fake one since the those 16 or 32gb fake drives work in somewhat similar way.

Try this. Google "bootable USB" and follow the required steps, not all.
 
Check whether you can see the partitions in Disk Management, else its defiantely something weird.

On a different note, does Sony require the bill for RMA of USB drives? There are no partitions visible in his pen drive.
