Hi Guys,
I am going to visit the Bangkok in 2nd week of april with family. Need your suggestion regarding staying and food (Indian Veg and Non veg). I am looking for budget stay options (approx 400-500 baht for 3 persons). Also which area should I stay... Pahurat or Pratunam? From Pratunam many markets are nearby.
Thanks in advance.

Having stayed at Pratunam, I would recommend it. Lots of indian food options available, and lots of markets within 2-3 kms (though two junctions, MBK mall and Lumpini, with good malls, were blocked by protesters a month ago. Do check up on the situation now)
Reg. stay, i booked through expedia, but i heard there are cheaper options available for 500 baht, but i couldnt find those online.

I had stayed in the Sukhmvit Area near Nana station. I am not sure how much I paid for the hotel but I think it was like 3000 Baht, president palace or something. But there were lot of hotels in that area.

Pratunam sounds good....Last time I stayed around Pahurat Road, but travelling from there to Pratunam for shopping was very time consuming. Which Skytrain station near to Pratunam?

@ashu: The Airport Link train stop is there in Pratunam, so it was very useful while checking out of the hotel, just walking 150 meters, and catching a train to the airport

Avoid Indian food and make sure to eat Thai.

At least Pad Thai and Thai iced Tea(with ice, dont ask without ice). If you like it spicy, tell em make you cry. :). I always do. and then feel sorry. But worth it. :D

Perhaps for bf, Khanom Chi or rice noodles. and they have this full fish fry, forgot the name of it. Try all of this, you wont regret.

These are my go-to Thai foods

You have got to try out the local cuisine. Thai food is very nice.
This is exactly what I thought when I read the first post. Why do we keep insisting on eating only Indian food everywhere? I don't know if its just a desi thing but some of my friends were complaining that they couldn't find 'dal chawal' when driving to Niagara

@op : sorry about the completely off topic post!

But when i went for a recent trip just us keralites no issues. :D.

You mean you didn't have these issues because you planned your visit (just you 'keralites' :D) in a way where you got your coconut oil cooked veggies/meat and sambhar and stuff? :P

Nope. None of us have any "strict" needs.

FYI, I am anti-coconut oil. :D. All in all sunflower oil. Nowadays, olive oil. :p. I guess people like you have a one eyed view of Keralites.

Pad thai is an instant classic if you get it nice. Hooked from the start. They have many dishes with coconut milk.

Very accessible for southerners :D

I will be in Bangkok for 4 days and 3 nights. I am planning on one day visit to pattaya. Can somebody suggest how I can go to pattaya Quickest and cheapest way from ChinaTown (Pahurat). We are two person visiting there, also which nice places to visit in Pattaya.
Thanks,
Ashu
