Halo 2 and Shadowrun (Vista Exclusive Games) Cracked to Run on Windows XP

A patch has been made available from the hacking group Warez designed to enable gamers to run Windows Vista exclusive titles – Halo 2 and Shadowrun – on Windows XP. This despite that fact that Microsoft claimed in the past that the Vista-only titles could not be backported to support Windows XP due to the overhauled Vista graphics architecture. Initially, at the beginning of June, Falling Leaf Systems announced the debut of
a project designed to offer Windows XP compatible Halo 2 and Shadowrun.

Bink.nu is reporting that he hacking group Warez has managed to move faster than Falling Leaf Systems and produced a patch allowing users to play both Halo 2 and Shadowrun on the good old Windows XP. The Vista exclusive games can now be played on XP via the DirectX 9 graphics engine. Falling Leaf Systems accused Microsoft of forcing users to migrate to the latest Windows platform, and of deceiving the gaming community by stating that DirectX 10 and Windows XP compatibility was impossible and then that the Vista titles could not run on DirectX 9.

The Warez group proved with their patch that Falling Leaf Systems was right in all claims. Market analyst forecasted that one of the major drives for Windows Vista adoption was going to take place in the gaming environment. The high rate of Vista take-up by gamers was indeed justified by the benefits inherent with the evolved DirectX 10, Vista's next generation gaming technology. One move that Microsoft made to clearly point gamers in the right direction was the release of Vista only games. The latest gaming titles became synonymous with the Windows Vista operating system.

Microsoft tried to dress up the new Windows Vista game embargo, but a forced migration remains a forced migration no matter the volume of details related to the evolution of the users' gaming experience. The demand for cross-platform games comes to prove that Microsoft's Vista exclusive gaming titles is a strategy that has only begun to backfire.

I wonder now what Vista proud owners will proud about.. Poor M$ :bleh:

There is nothing to be proud about.Vista is the future and XP will die, eventually.thats the only truth.

BTW Vista is not a console to fret over lost 'exclusive' games. Its an OS with gaming being just one of its functions.

PS:No offence meant :)

^^ NO u didn't get my point.. See what thigs has been ported,, , Flip 3D , Sidebar :P. Widgets[Oops its from very early].. and lots of similar things hacks to make everything like Vista ...now even games too.. while XP cost too less now if available :P s what the use of resource hog vista :P

Well nobody is buying Vista at the moment but Microsoft will force gamers to buy Vista as DX10 only ships with Vista. This is a horrible strategy by Microsoft (horrible for gamers but good for Microsoft) to sell their new OS.

People are still using WinXP and Microsoft should have provided DX10 on XP too.

With the billion dollar gaming industry on its mind, Microsoft has played a trump card by offering DX10 only on Vista. What a novel way to sell ur new OS!

This reminds me of an incident in a town in europe (forgot its' name). All the PCs in that town were running on Win 2000 or Win NT. Microsoft told them that they'll have to migrate all their PCs to WinXP bcoz they will stop supporting 2000/NT after some time. So, Microsoft was forcing that town to migrate to XP.

and guess what did that town do: They migrated to GNU/Linux!

I hope some god-send developer develops a crack which enables DX10 support in WinXP... then poor gamers won't have to buy Vista and won't have to purchase atleast 2GB RAM to run DX10 games.

dude i already have the original copy of it damn microsoft requires window activision key to play halo 2 on live lets hope ppl crack this damn thing also the performance is awsome on vista with really high textures:hap2:

Seems like a joke to me. Shadowrun is built for both 360 and PC and everyone knows that 360 uses a modified version of DX9.0c. So is Halo. So thinking that they wont be patched to run on a WinXP machine is stupid of both us and M$!!

But the only thing I am concerned about is, that will the game can be played online with Live??

Yes, thats what monopoly does...

See what happens if ATI/AMD closes down and leaves Nvidia as the sole manufacturer...
