Neowin.net - Vista Ultimate Priced at $450 on Microsoft.com Canada

» Vista prices revealed! | Ed Bott's Microsoft Report | ZDNet.com

Based on current U.S. prices (which I wrote about last week), I would expect Windows Vista to sell in the U.S. for the following prices (full/upgrade):

Windows Vista Ultimate $349/$199
Windows Vista Business $269/179
Windows Vista Home Premium $239/$139
Windows Vista Home Basic $199/$99

Of course, these are guesses only. Some discounts will probably be available in the retail channel. OEM prices will, of course, be significantly lower. And I expect Microsoft to offer some enticing promotions when Windows Vista ships to encourage early adoption

looking at these prices...i will have to stick.to my OEM copy..of win xp pro...

and i will never be able to buy a vista ultimate copy...

Jan 30 is vista's release date as per Amazon.com: more @ dailytech

January 30 Launch for Vista; Pricing Revealed

Vista Home Basic: $199/$99.95, Vista Ultimate: $399/$259
For those that have been waiting for Microsoft's long-delayed Windows Vista operating system, pricing for the company's first consumer OS release since Windows XP in 2001 has been leaked. Ed Bott's Microsoft Report initially discovered that Microsoft's Canadian site had revealed pricing for the numerous Vista SKUs. However, later in the day, US pricing was found on Amazon's website.

For those looking to jump on the Vista bandwagon, here are the prices listed (full/upgrade):

Windows Vista Home Basic, $199/$99.95
Windows Vista Home Premium, $239/$159
Windows Vista Business, $299/$199
Windows Vista Ultimate, $399/$259

Even more interesting is that Amazon lists the shipping date as January 30 2007. The corporate line has been that Microsoft is aiming for a January retail launch for Vista. Bill Gates has even been quoted as saying that there was an 80% chance that Vista would ship in January. If this launch date provided by Amazon is any indication, Microsoft looks to be sticking to its guns as far as the January launch is concerned.

Vista means big business for Microsoft so it wants to make sure that it gets the launch perfect. The company has announced that it is investing a total of nearly $1 billion USD into the launch of Windows and Office and the latest build, 5536, has been well received by testers and the press.

It's official :

DailyTech - Microsoft Officially Prices Windows Vista

Microsoft has updated its Windows Vista site with official pricing for the various versions of the operating system :

Windows Vista Home Basic, $199/$99.95
Windows Vista Home Premium, $239/$159
Windows Vista Business, $299/$199
Windows Vista Ultimate, $399/$259

Microsoft didn't elaborate on Amazon's suggested ship date of January 30, but simply stated that volume license customers would receive the OS in November while general public availability will be in January of 2007.

Wish there was a upgrade offer from 9x/Me to Vista.

For all ppl who felt vista was expensive....its the same price what XP retails at... So I guess although MS spend a few billion dollars (cost same as sending someone to the moon --Bill Gates) and 5 yrs to make it, its not costly for the users !!

ok sunbiz y dont u buy me a copy of vista since its not costly.......damn it 18k is freaking expensive........for an os..........

hahaha what is MS thinking! that ppl will pay that much for an OS? ill stick to my xp pro, and then migrate to linux once im comfortable with it... goto hell MS!
