There is no official plan for the 99rs pack. Even the CC says this.

This plan was actually for 2G before 3G was released. Now they have continues this plan for 3G also. This pack works for both 2G and 3G networks.
Got that, well, then will try my hands on Reliance :P

The 500Rs. combo prepaid plan looks good to me. You get 500 minutes of local plus STD (worth Rs. 250 @ 0.5/minutes, provided these minutes arenot restricted to Vodafone network ) plus 500 sms plus 500 mb data. Even you are not a heavy sms user then also it translates to 500mb for Rs. 250 i.e 50 paisa per mb.

Not bad at all specially after BSNl has withdrawn it's unlimited plans are tariff for most current plans are comparable.

This is a good plan for a primary telephone usage, checking emails and occasional browsing.

OT: If Telecom talk can be believed Aircel has an unlimited 3.6mbps 3G data plan (don't know whether it comes with FUP) for 1275 p.m. Aircel 3G Data Plan Details

^^I agree..Plans are almost as per expectations. The 500 Rs. Data/Voice combo looks like a very good plan to me. Might just port to Vodafone from Idea unless something drastic happens!

What about prepaid

I know they seem a lot on paper, but isn't 3G expensive everywhere in the world? Only thing is that they bundle it with the cost of the handset and make it a 2 year contract. For e.g. my uncle in the U.S. is paying $115 per month for an unlimited data and voice plan (AT&T) on his iPhone 3GS. Similarly, my friend is paying around £35 per month for a limited plan (with some freebies) on his iPhone 4.

I've been using Tata Docomo 3G (whenever the signals permit me to :\) and I've comfortably being able to last a month with 200-300MB data. Since I've already got broadband at office and at home, I use the net on the phone for mainly updating my widgets and the occasional FB, gmail etc.

That Rs 500 plans looks really tempting. Might even migrate to postpaid for the first time in my life.

Whats the difference between "mobile internet" and "mobile broadband" ? Is the former just gprs/edge and the latter proper 3G ?

If so, the I'm going for the 1 GB / Rs 650 postpaid plan but with 6 months advance payment which makes it about Rs. 540 per month :D

Also planning to get the Vodafone branded K3765 3g usb dongle - hopefully that's available - to use on computers.

Seems Vodafone has the best if not one of the best coverage in Pune according to my office coworkers' feedback.

That's true. The network is the most stable here and has maximum coverage, even in basements. It even works in the level 2 basements of my office and all malls I've been to.

A slice of history - There's a reason behind this. Initially it was BPL Mobile, upto around 2006, which only had it's network in Maharashtra. The network coverage was excellent. Hutch purchased BPL Mobile and inherited the awesomeness which is now Vodafone! :P
