Dear All

I have a postpaid corporate connection from Vodafone. Recently purchased a smartphone and was planning to use VLU99 plan with it.

I cancelled my 3g100 plan and sent a request to activate VLU99 plan on August 17th. Next day, i called up the call center and asked the status for which they promptly replied that it will be activated by the same day after 6 pm. I again called them after 6 pm and they confirmed that it is activated and i can start using it. There were no other details provided.

I used the data connecion for 20 more days. Finally i got the vodafone bill and to my surprise i was charged Rs. 4880 for 488MB Data usage.

I promptly raised a complaint w.r.t billing mentioning that i shouldn't have charged for data usage apart from the plan charges and i got a reply that VLU99 plan is not activated on my mobile number and the usage is for "Vodafone Mobile Connect" as i have used mobile connect apn instead on vodafone live (how am i supposed to know which APN to use).

My reply to them is as follows
"
1) VLU99 was confirmed as acivated by CC agent (one can listen to the conversation)
2) I was never informed about any APN change. How the customer knows about these APN details?

Since there was issues from Vodafone side, the same needs to be rectified at vodafone end"

Post that i got a call from vodafone and i explained my situation. The vodafone executive again said VLU99 is not activated and i have used Mobile connect APN and i need to pay the charges. I asked him, why i was not informed about APN change (since as a customer we are unaware of this) for which he doesn't have any answer. i also asked him whether he had a chance to listen to my conversation with cc agent and he replied they won't store the conversation.

After a while i got a mail saying that they can do anything and i need to bear the charges.. i again raised a complaint and same story happened again.

Let me know what else i can do as clearly there are issues fron Vodafone end and am not paying 4k for the same

Dont pay simple.
They cannot recover that money from you.
In the mean time search for alternatives in service provider.
Btw was your phone on a 3g mode. Because unlike other operators vodafone does not give you 3g network access unless you subscribe for 3g services.

^No, I cancelled my 3g plan... So it was in 2G mode even though i set the data network as automatic which inturn forced me to think that i was indeed using Vodafone live connection

raise the issue to nodal officer of your respective area, and bombard them on Twitter account with hastag vodafone and another hashtag of poor service. If they are on facebook bombard them there too.

The problem is valid, the CC should have informed you of the APN, I have faced similar issue and had to pay up, my charges were lesser, way lesser. Your problem is you used the www apn when you shoule be using portalmms

My 2 cents, change your provider

I am in a similar situation. I have D/c from VF from last 2months and yet I keep receiving their bills, the SIM card is also inactive ! They have problems with their system what the Cal centre guyz do I dont know but whenever you active GPRS services on VF they never get activated, dat quickly. Its always in queue and at times it may be in queue for up to a month. For a Postpaid connection the change will happen only after your bill date. This is how they make their money ! Try fighting keep pushin, visit their store again and again...dats the only way !

@OP
who pays for the corporate bill. If it is your company dont worry ;)
but if its you why bother paying.
Stall the payment and tell them that you wont pay until they correct the bill.

Just dont pay. They can not do anything.I had similar issue with Airtel, did not pay a single penny.

Sent from my galaxy s2 with tapatalk pro.

Dont pay. Just post it on fb and twitter. Would say this as an extreme step, but if you are the adventurous kind, take the issue to consumer court after speaking to the nodal office. its high time some1 kicked all these telecom companies in the a**.

Well as per suggestions already from many members its your call to pay or not but just like to suggest do clear the issue and matter because in future it may have issues for you in case you go for postpaid

Thanks all for your words... My first priority is to resolve the issue. Also i can't stop paying (planning not to pay only the data charges), as this is corporate postpaid connection and i need to stay with vodafone until i switch to some other company..

Lets see how this gonna progress. Hope to resolve this in an amicable way unless vodafone thinks otherwise :)

Latest reply by Vodafone.... this sucks royally

Dear Mr. xxxx,

Thank you for your email dated 26/09/11, regarding Vodafone mobile number 98xxxxxxx.
As confirmed by my colleagues Ms. Rupali Dhumal, Mr. Yaseer Siddique and Ms.Rohina Baviskar on 15/09/11, 21/09/11 and 22/09/11, we reiterate the charges towards Vodafone Mobile connect are correct and payable.
We confirm 3G plan @ Rs.100 with 100 MB free usage was active on the above number as per the SMS received from you for activation. There was no request received for the activation of Vodafone Live Unlimited @ Rs.99 and hence the service was not activated.
Since the plan was active for only 6 days, you have received the discount of Rs. 302.10 for the usage on prorata basis for 6 days.
We would also like to explain that with 3G speed, you were able to download more data in the same amount of time as compared to 2G.
Also, smart phones like iPhone, Android devices etc. have a tendency to continuously access data network and automatically download some applications which can increase your data usage.
We once again like to inform you that there will be no reversal towards Vodafone mobile connect charges.
This query has thus been closed effective 28/09/11.

In case you need further assistance, please do call or email us. We’ll do our best to help you.

Happy to help,

Moumita Mandal

OP,

Vodafone use SAME TACTIC with me too even when I have SOLID PROOF in WRITTEN... they send me mail for deactivation of service but still they charge & reply "We agree that we send you mail without confirming our end" why the hell we pay for THEIR LOOP HOLE, don't leave them easily post on twitter, write to nodal office. They reversed the charges after 15 days with lots of hassle :(

Whole Telecom industry in India set to COLLECT what they loose in bribe to politicians for license & spectrum. :@
