Hey,
I got a Vodafone prepaid connection a few days ago since I got to know about their GPRS - Rs.95/- for 500MB/Month plan.
Now here's my ordeal, I had a hard time getting the GPRS to work since I wasn't able to get the GPRS settings from Vodafone despite of my numerous attempts of calling the customer care and messaging on their toll free numbers. I'd get errors like Write the IMEI Code properly or it'd say settings will be sent shortly, anyway, I got it working by some guy's guide with the help of iPhone configuration utility.
BUT, that's when the biggest let down came, I can browse the web via Safari, use the facebook app, BUT I cannot connect via the Mail App or IM Apps like whatsapp, etc.
I tried chaging the apn to www like someone suggested earlier but that totally disconnects the internet, so I'm sticking to GPRS as the APN or portalnmms. I tried numerous other settings, but nothing seems to work.
While on the other hand, I can easily access IM apps using Airtel GPRS services.
Just when I thought I could totally move to Vodafone, I got this major setback with their GPRS services. Calling CC and others didn't help, they suggested I opted for the Vodafone Mobile Connect, which is too expensive and totally goes against the whole reason I bought the connection in the first place.
I request all members to help me out here!
Am I doing something wrong here? How do I change the APN to www without having to pay extra? Is there ANY way around it?
OR
I get an Airtel connection and get the Rs.98/month - 2GB Free plan on it.
In the end, both providers have similar tariff plans. And to think about it, I got such a good number from Vodafone, I was planning to stick to it, only if these damned apps worked, I'd stay with Vodafone.
What seems to me is on Vodafone Live only HTTP protocol can be accessed while the mail app (IMAP) cannot.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
