hello friends
i am a hutch 1yr validity prepaid customer

currently not having internet in my new place for next 10-15 days till tata indicom fixes something for me

and I'm thinking of getting connected in weekends through vodafone (hutch) mobile connect
it giver 24 hrs unlimited browsing at 19 bucks bonus recharge

i'm having motorola l6 set
but have never used it for net access

so basically i need to know these facts

1. if this l6 can serve network to my lappy over usb/blue tooth
2. if this service is worth looking at in terms of speed and connectivity
3. if this service is available for my prepaid plan
4. if everything is ok then how to get the connection carried to my lappy ie changes to be done to l6

Neither hav I heard of anything lik dis,,,,,,,not in mah n goa,,N i trust it not dere in whole of india,,

DEre gprs connection is some wat weird,,, d whole page loads at one go after some time,,, not like airtel one which act lik normal net conection,,,where each bject gets displayed as n wen its downloaded(images etc...SPeakin secifically in opea mini..)

Don go for it even ifdere's somethin lik dis,, get an airtel or soemthin for few days..@15rs...good speed,,, thoun not in ur l6 i guess its gprs so at max 8Kbps,,
try somethin else,,,
 
Yeah, 10 paise for 10kbps in here (prepaid, delhi).

Useless really. Crappy vodafone!! They'll milk us here and cut discounts in the UK.
 
^^ Its been 10paise for 10kb since a long time.. Its not Vodafone's doing...

There was Hutch Access(dunno what its called now) for using Net on the comp too.. That was 5paise for 10kb.. But both r ridiculously slow so not worth it...

i got this info from site

i called vodafone serice

then the person told they r giving away free gprs activation for wich i have to wait 3-4 days

then i can use this facility

btw i'm in chennai
 
yes its clled Vodafone Mobile Connect.... and u need to do a topup of 19 and unlimited gprs data transfer gets activatd...u can connect this to the laptop or PC... this is similar to Airtel Mobile Office.... no additional data transfer charges... I have it activated right now...it works with the old Hutch_www gprs settings....

like if u call customer care they will tell u that u need to goto vodafone shop and that they will give u the setting there....but I took a chance and did a Rs.19 topup and then i got an sms that unlimited plan was activated for 24hrs... :clap: :clap: :clap:
 
There is no top up of Rs.19 for Unlimited Internet.I confirmed it from Vodafone Store.

Activation charge Rs.248,monthly rent Rs.248 and 5p/10kb as browsing charge.
 
^^ monthly rent 248??? it was 199 when it was hutch!! have they increased or is it just for bangalore?
 
there's no offer like this 19 rupees one or whatever.. the only Vodafone Mobile Connect charges are those specified by Shashank above.. and the rental in delhi is 199/-
 
I am a vodafone prepaid subscriber from delhi.
I got an SMS informing that vodafone is offering GPRS with no rental and I just need to save the settings they will be sending to me in a short while.

I got the settings from vodafone within 2-3 mins and installed them.
But what I heard after calling Cust Care was that vodafone will not be charging any rental for gprs, but the surfing charges will apply at 10p/KB + download charges.

After that I just logged into orkut.com using my phone will homepage show up(with images disabled) and only this much cost me 3.5 Rs.

so it is indeed very costly. :(
