I have been using a Nokia E71 for the last 2 years. I have also been using Nokia's push mail service since the time I bought that phone.
Now, since the push mail app runs in the background, the data connection is always on and the EDGE logo can be seen next to the signal. Whenever I make/receive a call the data connection goes on standby. So when I'm on a call, no mails are sent/received. Once I put the phone down, the data connection becomes active and I my mail syncs again automatically.
However, since the last 5-6 weeks, my mails have been syncing even when I'm on a call and the data connection doesn't go on standby.
I always thought the 2G networks don't run voice and data connections simultaneously! Can someone please explain?
