Hi friends,

I want to buy an voice recorder for spy work which should have following features.

(Do not want to buy microcessettes ones)

Long recording time, i.e., as long as possible.
Long battery backup.
USB connector to take backups.
External microphone jack to connect external microphones.
Voice activated system
Large flash memory storage, preferable Micro SD

Please suggest some voice recorders, which will be available in Chandigarh.

My Transcend Tsonic 630 works very well as a voice recorder. Can be bought with upto 4 GB of memory. Has voice activated recording as well.

Also choice of meeting or memo mode.

The newer model is the T650.

Don't know which model you checked but mine is the MP630 which does have a Line-in. In fact that was one of the reasons why I went for it in the first place. I have never used it to connect a mic though. I used it basically to quickly digitize my music collection from cassette.

I am not sure if the Line-in sensitivity will be good enough to connect a passive microphone. Don't know what mic outputs are like these days but a decade ago there were no passive microphones with that kind of high output to connect to a line-in.

On another note, just curious to know why you need a microphone connection when you seem to want surreptitious recording.:S
 
Line in phone will be planted in the floor of the first floor house by drilling to listen ground floor conversations. Ground floor person has snatched my Nokia N72 and is threat to my life due to property reasons. Police personals were not helpful; they are just interested in money from both parties and they did not write FIR for this snatching case at all. Two microphones will be placed in each room to listen if there is any bad plan going on. The recorder set will placed at one place for continuous recording.

Check the below links for the size of microphone condenser which will be drilled and implanted on floor and then floor cement sealed with only wire coming out for connection to voice recorder. Microphone condenser is just size of finger tip (Dimensions : 6.0x5.0mm) which will be connected to mic in/line connection of voice recorder.

Then how on earth the acoustic waves reach the microphone? thorough the wires coming out?:S
