I just got new sammy 40" B6000 LCD , and seeing 5-6 power shutdowns daily in my area I have decided to go for an Voltage Stabilizer...

Components I want to cover are:
TV
Fridge (i/p watts: 155 , defrost watts : 245)
Computer (500W smps)
2.1 HT (i/p watts: 150 , pmpo 2800W :huh: )

Is it possible to protect all components from one device or I'll have to buy stabilizer for each ?

And V-guard will do or better I invest in servo ?
 
well either get seperate stabilizer for the electronic devices and fridge.
or get a servo based stabilzer that can take care of most appliances.

in case u go for seperate stabilizer for ur tv/home theatre u can go with a v-guard VG crystal model can handle a load of 440watts.
for ur computer u can go with a UPS,if that is inadequate to stop the high voltage fluctution,then u can for a additional stabilizer.or if ur computer is located very close to the tv/HT u can get a V-Guard digi 100 can take a load of 1320watts which means u can connect ur tv/ht/computer/ps3/xbox 360.

so if u go with the seperate stabilizer option u would have to by 2 to 3 stabilizers costing a total of around 7k.
a servo based stabilizer would cost around 14k for the same load requirement.

How a stabilizer is going to help in power cuts? Think of stabilizer only in case of extreme voltage fluctuations (>+-15%).

my bad... i gave tht example just to give idea of power fluctuation :ashamed:

Well comp has UPS , 600VA Intex , i dont think its pure sine wave :s...

Is servo worth spending 14k ??

well do note any UPS will give sine wave from mains,but only some will give sinewave when its running on battery.
well i have no idea how good is intex,btw i run a APC via V-Guard stabilizer,since at late nights i get really high voltage constantly and the apc switches to back up mode,their by decreasing the life of batter due to the constant charge/discharge cycles.by it running via a stabilizer,it goes to back up only for a fraction of a second.

well whether its worth going for the servo at 14k,imo NO.

well do not use the VG crystal for fridge,V-Guard dgital range of stabilizer including VG crystal are ment for electronic devices.which the manual specificaly says.for the fridge get a stabilizer ment for fridge.
 
My dad called up electrician , and he insisted tht we should install servo stabilizer ...

Quoted 5-10 k budget , will tell exact price after calculations... Assumed 2kVA ...

And make was "LOTUS" , some Pune based manufacturer... If tht company is good this deal sound fair to me , instead of V-guard ...

well no idea about the brand,but if u can afford a servo based, then why not.
but 2kva will handle a load of around 1200watts.so what are the applianced that will run from it,considering he is mostly going to install it via MCB.
 
Yes , hes going to install it via MCB only... Appliances coming under it are 1.Fridge(~300W) 2.TV(~150W) and 3.PC(~500W) ... so 1200W is sufficient enough , isnt it ??

it should be enough,but if u add a PS3 or XBOX 360 or a blu ray player,HI-FI in the future,then u will need to get a higher capacity servo stabilizer .
 
No plans of PS3/Xbox , but HTiB is in consideration... If i go for it then i'll disconnect PC , in that way thr wont be any need to get higher capacity servo i guess...

For PC I can get APC UPS ...

I read thru' this thread. I was in a similar situation about couple of weeks ago or so. Have a dedicated V-Guard stabilizer for the refrigerator. Got a second dedicated V-Guard, "Digital 100" stabilizer for all my other electronic equipment like 40" LCD etc. including a 1000 Watts HTS.
