Gamespot is running a poll which aims to determine the greatest video game character of all times.

I voted for Gordon Freeman as well. :D

All Freeman seem to be legendary. Morgan Freeman and Gordan Freeman, very similar names too. :P
 
Max Payne and The Duke forever :). But I guess since they don't have any long running franchises to their credit, they won't get much attention.

Gordon Freeman is more like the #1 video game character with no personality whatsoever :P.

Let's just remind ourselves of what Half Life was when it was launched. Those of you have played the game in 1998 will agree that it was miles ahead of dreary rubbish we had on the PC. It changed the way people looked at FPS. And mind you,during that time Half Life wasnt considered simply as a FPS. It was a RPG FPS. A CGW,dating to that period,lying on my table testifies the fact. The review of the game is listed under RPG. That's how immersive it was.
Obviously as PC hardware progressed and people played the same in 2008,they failed to notice the graphics and the storyline and the attention to detail and the sound and how one man saved the world (for the time being) without speaking a word.
For me,Half Life and subsequently Freeman,struck a chord. I still consider the game better than Half Life 2 or it's Episodes.

You are free to choose whichever hero you like and vote for him. Everyone has their reasons for liking something. And hating something,like characters who cant stop blabbering.:rofl:


P.S: Oh God,the philosophical streak again.:P

Lol seriously! I do like the franchise but there're better protagonists than Freeman himself - Solid Snake (MGS), Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden) etc. just to name a few legendary ones.

Heck, I'm beginning to like Nathan Drake!
