wanna buy a dvd recorder

hi ,
want to buy a dvd recorder for my mom as her vcr just gave way.

now i want to buy a dvd recorder which she will be easy to use as well as it should be good in pocket.
i checked out usa websites and some people are giving dvd+ VCR in one .
kindly suggest what to buy and which brand to buy as in mumbai dvd recorders are not avaliable or either no one wants to keep them as there in no demand of it

how about getting Dish TV ? they provide a DVR as a 16k option
