I am juz posting my dxdiag information. I had brought my system 6yrs ago and my Monitor is 32 yrs old which is still working awesome.

System Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
System Model: GA-MA78GM-S2H
Processor: AMD Phenom(tm) 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.5GHz
Memory: 1790MB RAM
Display Card name: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Chip type: ATI display adapter (0x9610)
DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
Monitor: Samsung SAMTRON 45B(T)
Power Supply: Cooler Master 450 W.

I juz want to let you knw that the warranty period has expired of my motherboard and processor but its still working fine now. So do I need to upgrade both of them or should I juz upgrade juz the Motherboard. I had bought this 6 yrs back with my 6 mnths savings. Now I have good savings in past 6 yrs so juz want to know if I have to change it. If yes then let me know as per the newest latest technology which Motherboard and processor I should go for and if powersupply and ram would be enough for that or not. I juz want such that I shouldn't have any kinda problem in next 6-8 Yrs. My budget is atleast 1 lakh. If needed then I can even shell out 1.5 lakhs if required. So let me know guys what needs to be done. Will wait for your smart responses.

Noctua NH-U12P SE2 ~3900/-
ASUS P8H77-M PRO ~11500/-
G.Skill RIPJAWS 4GB x2 ~3500/-
Seagate Barracuda 7200.14 1TB ~5500/-
Intel Series 320 120GB SSD ~10500/-
Sapphire HD 7870 2GB ~22000/- OR nVidia GTX 670 ~28500/-
Corsair Carbide 400R ~5000/-
Corsair HX650W ~6500/-
Dell Ultrasharp U2312M ~14500/-
APC BR1.1KVA-IN ~4600/-

If you do not want to over-clock --

Intel Core i5 3570 ~14500/-
ASUS P8H77-M PRO ~9500/-
Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO ~2400/-
[rest configuration same as above]

Hope it helps, Cheers!!

Good rig suggested by alpha
#alpha17 - where are you getting nvidia 670 for 28.5k ??

That will be the launch price for the same on release as per speculations that are rife. No GTX 670 cards are available as of now in India, expect them to come in early -->mid June.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!!

Well you can play all current titles at "decently high" settings and can continue in this vein for ~1 -->1[SUP]1[/SUP]/[SUB]2[/SUB] years. After this you might have to play games at much tamer settings OR replace the graphics card.

Yes you can put in 3TB drives as well, because ASUS motherboards have a UEFI BIOS rather than the standard BIOS of old. UEFI supports boot from drives the size of upto 2 Tebibytes*.

For more on UEFI, check out this review. Also look up the wiki page.

*to comprehend this size of data, 1 Terabyte [TB]~10[SUP]12[/SUP] bytes of data. Whilst 1 Tibibyte [TiB]~2[SUP]40 [/SUP]bytes of data. I doubt we will see the drives of those size any time soon.

Hope this defines everything clearly, Cheerio!!

Asus motherboards are very overpriced. 11500 for a H77 micro atx motherboard? :scared14: Probably cause they are considered the no.1 motherboard manufacturer? I wouldn't recommend Asus motherboards to anyone. Ever.

1. They are overpriced.
2. I have heard about poor after sales service in India. But it's definitely not limited to India since I have also read about poor after sales service in foreign sites.
3. Last but not least, they call themselves A-soos. Previously it was aah-soos and now it's A-soos. Apparently the name originated from "Pegasus". If that's the case they obvioulsy don't know how it's pronounced. How to pronounce ASUS (video) -- Engadget

Anyway, if you want to buy SSD, it's best to wait for Intel 330 series SSDs. Intel 330 Series SSDs official, prices start at $89 -- Engadget

And if you buy Seagate 1TB hard drive, make sure the model number is ST1000DM003. It has a single 1TB platter and performance is better than the 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black (WD1002FAEX). But it has only 1 year warranty whereas the Western Digital Caviar Black has 5 years warranty. It costs about 7000 though.

11.5k is still a bit costly for a H77 Mobo. You may consider Asrock z77 Extreme 4 or 6 @ 10k / 12.6k . I've a Asrock z77 extreme 4, its the best bang for buck, with all the features you need. It supports 3TB+ bootable HDDs also. The temps are also consistent at around 40-46 degree max.

VGA CRT monitors came into picture around 1985s..and your model was probably from the 90s. No way it is 32 years old.

Talking about the upgrade, are you upgrading just for the heck of it or do you really see a need in terms of performance ? You've got a decent configuration and it should be good for a couple of years if all you use it is for movies/music/browsing/e-mail. Latest games/video encoding would always benefit with an upgrade though. So choose a path depending on your need.

By the way, I still run a 9 year old P42.8E and it gets the job done for my needs.

If your primary usage is gaming, it wont last 6 yrs.
Buy a midrange rig for 50k and use the remaining budget to keep upgrading key components, like the graphics card, every 2 years.
