/u] better if without OS n with driver cds, battery back up not such a worry
OK if even 3 hours, it would be gr8 if has 2GB+ ram, 2GHz+ processor 1GB nvidia dedicated graphics or more, hard disk not a worry OK if even 320 GB, better if hd screen n has a web cam, keyboard should have a number pad(strictly), with Bluetooth & WiFi, optical drive strictly needed,

Bought two laptops in the last two months.

1.AMD C50 Brazos Fusion processor/2GB RAM/15.6"/320GB HDD /DOS -ASUS X53 U model @ 17.7k.(built in Display card radeon 6250)

Added extra 2GB ram and installed win7 64 bit Ultimate .Battery 4 to 5 hours

2.Intel sandybridge platform B950 processor /2GB Ram/500 GB HDD/DOS/15.6"-Lenovo @ 22.7k

Added extra 4GB Ram and Win 7 ultimate 64 bit. speed and perfomance Intel indeed is better. (but costlier too)

If you get a Core I3 around 23 k with out OS -should be ok if you know to instal win7.with original installed OS ,that too Home basic easily 3-4 more. Avoid Dell and HP. battery over heats. Toshiba not bad but most models are 14" and not 15.6".

ASUS core I7 can get for 47K.

Core I5/500GB HDD/4GBRAM /15.6" /No OS model around 27-29k is the sweet spot

Just recommended a friend : 300V4A - S01N - i52350,640gb,4gb,gt520,48wh battery , matte screen - 38k

Dell Inspiron 15 R or HP Pavillion series could work better considering your requirement and budget. You should buy a laptop with good RAM at least 4GB and 500 HDD

RAM should be strictly 2+ GB

& Graphics card 1+ GB

any suggestions

because i am going to use apps which are heavy on GUI please consider it

n no need of OS or any bug problem i am a IT & hardware technician so i can solve it up

I have the exact same requirement.........

However one very specific question I wish to ask is , if go for a desktop for the same budget (35k)... what is the performance difference I can achieve over a laptop.

If its 10-15% improvement , I feel laptop does justice and will go for it....however if desktop beats it hands down....then I have consider desktop

I have been out of H/ware scene since quite some time.....hence need this help quiteurgently

cheers,

Me

How about HP's AMD Llano APU (A6) based quadcore laptop.

- A6 3400M 35W quad core APU

- 4GB DDR3 RAM

- 15.6" Screen

Price - 32k

I think it's an excellent deal, plus it can game.

Dont you think

is a better VFM Deal.

HP defi has windows on it and 4 gig ram , but you can get a 2gig additional stick for approx 800 to the asus and you are at the same config of HP with 2.5 k saved

I will go for the HP lappy as it has WIN7 preinstallED, 4GB RAM by default, and all drivers installed and everything.

Basically no headache

But yeah, the ASUS one is fine
