Want a wireless mouse for about Rs.2000

I've been using a Logitech MX518 for about 15 years now, and it still works well (till a few weeks back) and looks great. But, I think it might finally be beginning to die off. It stops working sometimes, and I need to unplug and plug it in to get it working again.
It's also giving scrolling issues. Sometimes it doesn't work, and sometimes it scrolls by itself. I'm going to try cleaning the sensor again, and see if that helps. But, I still want a new mouse.


I want something similar in size, but wireless. Preferably non-flashy. But I don't want to spend more than Rs.2500 on it. I think peripheral prices are crazy now-a-days. Rs.10,000 for a mouse!!
And I want something that's easy to use. Something I can recharge, instead of changing the battery again and again.

I've considered
1) Razer Death Adder V2 X - but there are reports that it doesn't work well with rechargeable batteries.
2) The Logitech G304 - non-rechargeable, and not my preferred shape.
3) Redragon M810 - good shape, rechargeable, but a little flashy, and an unknown brand.
4) Kreo Chimera - Indian brand, rechargeable, not my preferred shape, but can live with that since it's an Indian brand.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?
Also - I use Linux, so I need most of the settings to be adjustable via hardware.

I have two Deathadder V2 X mice. They are 2+ years and 6 months old respectively. Both are going strong without any issues. I've always used them with Eneloop (Standard, not the Pro) batteries. Never faced any issues.

It took a short while to get used to the shape, but it's been super comfy for day to day use and gaming. I have large hands but never got cramps or wrist pain with extended use.

I also have a G304 that I bought off TE. It had a switch replaced so I can't comment on the durability of the stock switches. The shell doesn't feel as robust as the V2 X and it developed an issue where the battery wouldn't contact the terminals properly. I did some hacks to temporarily fix it but the issue kept coming back and now it's completely dead. The shape is not bad but I could definitely feel the strain after 30 mins of use.

How long do the batteries last? Is it easy to get the cover off to change them?

I think about a month with my AA Eneloops. Not sure, but It's infrequent enough that I haven't bothered to check closely. Depends a lot on individual usage though.

It also supports AAA batteries if you prefer less weight at the cost of battery life.

The cover comes off easily and snaps into place when putting it back. It's not as smooth as say a Razer Atheris which uses magnets for the cover but it never felt like the plastic would break off or something.

Ah, looks like I’m a bit late to the party - but still wanted to drop my two cents in for future readers or if you're still open to experimenting down the line!

Great choice with the Razer DeathAdder V2 X - it really hits that sweet spot between ergonomics, performance, and price. Bonus points for working well with Eneloop batteries and Linux (not always a given these days) BUTTT if you ever feel like exploring other options later, you might want to check out the Logitech M650 Large or even the Lenovo Go Wireless Mouse. Both are rechargeable, understated in design, and play nicely with Linux out of the box. Not as “gamer” but solid for daily use.

Hope the new mouse serves you as faithfully as your MX518 did. 15 years is a tough act to follow!

a few quirks about the v2x (or other razer replaceable battery mice):

- it detects the charge level based on the battery voltage. consumption is high as it stops when the voltage reaches below 1.2v. there can still have some charge left in the battery which can be used in something else. some batteries (maybe eneloop or some NiMH) completely discharges when going below 1.2v so they'll last longer.

from what i've read, logitech mice lasts till the voltage drops to 1v.

- if you use multiple systems (tested on windows AND linux) and connect through BT, it doesn't reconnect automatically. you've to pair it again every time you switch.

- they've removed the 'on-device' save button in synapse and the customization you make on default profile only works when synapse is running. you've to create a new profile to save onboard which is confusing.
