This is more of a snob-value PC than a entertaining PC. For all the hardware power, it finally only has a sad 17" monitor to display all the graphics its dishing it out. :D

I'd say bump it up to 22" (check out the LG 22" deal or the Dell 22" GO). Rest of it is up to you, work around that.

A motherboard of such a high calibre is only required if you wanna overclock, the extra 4-5k you are advising to spend there may as well go for a better display unit. Cuz unless you are a super geek, you'll look more at the screen than the green/blue LEDs in your case and the awesome red color PCB and jumper settings. :D :D

Out.

Abit IP35-E - Good

XFX 8600GT - Make sure its the ddr3 version

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Value

Seagate 160GB Sata HDD - Just 160? coz of a budget problem? 160gigs is Really low!

Antec Nine Hundred

Cooler Master Real Power 500w get the Corsair VX450 - Rs 3600/-

what exactly are you gonna use this pc for? also, whats ur budget like?

@drift

why would someone need an e8400/a900/2gigs of ram for a 'general purpose rig'? unless its coz u suggested it to him :p

if he's jus gonna browse the net and watch some movies, this stuff would be a ultra major overkill :)

Investing 6.5K in Case and just 4.5K in GFX card

Buying a 5K SMPS and spending only 5.5K on MB

Getting a separate audio card and buying just 160GB HD: IMHO

@morgoth.. take a look at driftking's siggy... :p and you'll kno the reason behind the suggestions :D

he wont listen. he wants the best. He is like me

dude.. the suggested config is not 'the best'. its 'overkill'.. and extremely 'unbalanced'... a.k.a 'stupid'

no offence to you mate.. but even you have a pretty silly config :p.

if all ur pal cares abt is getting the 'best'... let him post a budget, and we'll all help him to decide on 'the best'
