Hello friends,

I want to buy a basic mp3/mp4 player <=2K for gifting purpose. Can you suggest some players so that i can decide on what to do.
Also please post some links to what you suggest. player should be atleast 2gb.
Player needs to have a screen so that i can go the song which i want directly instead of pressing next button many times.

I've been using Transcend MP 870 4 GB MP4 Player since 2years and had no big issues so far. But it is not in my budget.

MP4 for 2k? Not possible unless you get a bad one.
For MP3 I suggest the Philips Go Gear. Really good one for its price imo. I'm using one. Just get a better earphone, canal one, as the stock one can hurt your ear when used for a long time.

Go Gear 2GB.
It has a small Lcd screen and you can see the song being played. I'm sorry about the other one, i never bothered to check. >_< Will do once i get home later. But if you want to buy it do buy a better IEM. Personally i don't like the stock one and its a pain on the ears. I'm using a headphone.

Extend just a little bit and get a Sandisk Sansa Clip/Clip+ .. Much more worth it.

Agree, nothing like a clip/+ with RB but you will have to get it from abroad. Not seen it locally available.

Talking to friends about this the other day and they said these players are becoming obsolete what with cellphones with micro-sd cards capable of playback.

+1 for Sansa clip zip (or clip+ if budget is constraint)

with soundmagic PL11 and rockbox firmware it VFM...

A friend bought me clip zip in Jan13 for $23 !!

I will look some sites and let you offers if any..

Only site i found was grabmore (should be called pay more/wait more) with ridiculous pricing, a 2GB clip+ that sells for under $20 states side goes for Rs.2.9k :(

Tradus used to do them but don't seen any there now.

I really don't understand why these aren't sold any longer in India, sandisk has not come up with newer models and the 4GB clip+ is still a market leader on amazon.

It's also available on ibhejo.com, you will get discounts on account opening. Compare prices with grabmore and decide.
There are additional octroi needs to be paid for ibhejo.com say 3% don't know about grabmore

A small doubt. If i have somebody in US who can buy and post it to me, Will i face any problems with the customs here?

SanDisk Sansa Clip+ 4 GB MP3 Player - Black

Right, so this seems a better price for the 4GB Clip+ at Rs.2833 which is Rs.800 less than what paymore wants.

There is a Rs.1000 off welcome voucher for new users, as to which products it applies to isn't clear. is it for any products ? No explanation whatsoever on the ibhejo site, they want you to register first.

Searching on this at this coupons site, its Rs.500 off on a minimum purchase of Rs.2k. But this is dated info so may not be true. Code is WELCOME2BHEJO which means cost is Rs.2333 for the clip+ :)

Do note the 2 week delivery time though, could be longer.

@mojo if time is not constraint I will still suggest clip zip from ibhejo, last time my order from ibhejo was delievered in 9 days.

Additional point I forgot to mention about sansa mp3 players are they have micro sd cards, my zip though has 4 GB internal memory I am using 32 GB card with it, works perfect, no issues.

Rest you decide.

There was also Nationite Mp3 player which also had SD Card support .. the N2 I believe. Please check that out.[DOUBLEPOST=1373292494][/DOUBLEPOST]@mojo .. Getting a Clip+ locally is a tad more expensive .. see if you get a deal in 2-2.5k .. That would be acceptable.

I got mine from Amazon, cost around 1800/- (in US)
