Want to buy a New Handycam !

Hey guys , I am interested in getting a new handycam,

Budget : 20 to 30k
Brand : sony

Now the problem is I am a complete novice, and I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages of

> hard disk (hdd) based handycams
> DVD handycams
> Mini DV

any online link for the above will also be cool

which one to go for?? ??

Here's a link to HDD based camcorders from Sony. Well obviously better than the DVD based and the Mini-DV based cos of the better Image sensor, faster recoding times n so on.

Sony India : Hard Disk Drive

The Sony DCR SR45E HDD based camcorder is priced @ <25k; most decent shops like JJMehta have the same price tag although you can buy it cheaper from abroad or grey markets;
Its a pretty decent one and has 30GB HDD space which offers >20 hrs of recording; offers dual recording through the MS Pro Duo slot.

Although I'd suggest you to buy this one since you've the budget to:

get any of the HDD Version.
I have DSC-SR42E. It has 30GB HDD and the video qualoty is also very good. The quality is nearby 720p when set on maximum quality mode.
Videos taken in maximum quality mode look good on my Dell E248WFP.
