Hi,
My HP laptop came with Windows Vista Home Edition. It has only a restore to factory option, no separate Vista DVD. Because of an issue I am facing (posted here), I want to reinstall the OS. But, I don't want to use HP's Vista since I suspect something may be wrong with their setup. Both my friend and me have HP laptop and both of us face this strange issue.
Is their any legal way of getting an original Vista DVD (direct download or request to Microsoft)? I will use my serial number (pasted at the bottom of the laptop) for installation.

request toll free number of microsoft, they'll probably provide you for some charges.

usually oems have stopped giving original dvd's anymore..coz they want you to use the vista which is installed with 1000 sucko apps.

I installed xp 32 bit sp3 on my lenovo u330, coz vista sucked and slow..lenovo vista sucks !

Thanks for the reply. However, my problems were solved with OEM Vista itself.

In HP's vista, only Norton is there. No other crap wares. In addition to the reason I mentioned above, another reason I wanted to install from DVD was that I was under the impression doing a factory restore will completely delete all the partitions and create a single partition.

This Sunday, I tried factory restore. It formatted only C drive and installed fresh Vista. With this, the problem of sites not opening is no more either.
