hello guys,
i want to send my scooter frm Cochin to Coimbatore...what is the safest way?train or container truck?

tq

^^ contact Gati couriers, they will take it properly.

I had sent a Honda Activa from Pune to Dehradoon and it cost me around 3000 rupees i think. The courier guys came to my home to pick up the bike

container truck in the services of a private courier company is the best way. they'll come to your place and pick up the vehicle, and drop it at the other place too. make sure they pack the scooter in front of you. (just for added self assurance, even otherwise they do a fine job).

sending it by train is a big risk. they pack it with lousy sacks, without any padding. inevitably the lights and mirrors will be broken as the handlers usually throw more stuff onto the vehicle.

also u might wanna check with the local RTO for the NOC. (only if the vehicle has registration of previous state, and is going into another state)

I remember Mohit sent his bike from uttaranchal? to bangalore. cost him 1800 + 100 bribe by train

Try to find someone trustable with a lot of free time wanting to travel from Cochin to Coimbatore and ask him to ride it

Take the scooter with you in Train when you travel, book it as luggage. Just pad the scooter with some hey and sack, it will be done by the coolies in the train station for a payment, load the scooter in the train in goods carriage of the train you are alighting. Get down in Coimbatore, collect the scooter with you.

This will cost you very little. Fee will be like 1.5 times or so of your travel ticket.

Cochin to Coimbatore is not too far, you can ride it also.

Use GATI....

One stop shop

Also make sure they unpack in front of you....

Cos in case of damage they will write up a slip for which you can claim insurance... from your insurance company...

Yeah, it isn't that far a distance and the roads are pretty obvious.

I used to ride this distance of 180-220kms cochin-coimbatore (esp RE bullet). :D and still prefer.

regarding @OP : you can ask tourist carriers to coimbatore(subha,no.1 etc starts from MG road -Ensign,grand hotel etc) to carry it .another options is rail- ask porters to pack the bike and load into train(if you are travelling along with).

The roads're pretty decent except near Kuthiran. Loads of irregularities such as deep cavities. 2 wheelers've got to be very careful esp. during these monsoons. I've seen car axles getting conked on the middle of the roads in these areas!

And yeah on a scooter, riding over 220km is not a joke! :P

As mano's rightly pointed it out, trains work out the cheapest.

Did you asked Subha/No.1 like travels from Ernakulam city whether they can carry?I personally have seen many packs the bikes either in the top or in the rear cabin of the buses for transport.

Train is ur best bet. Just get it packed nicely. Gati is also good but they charge heavily plus they cant guarantee u about its safety.
