I am on the lookout for a 2.1 system for my PC (and normal TV use)

I have an Altec Lansing ATP3 that I absolutely swear by! It has never disappointed me.

In the price range of 5-7k, will I find something that rivals the sound from the ATP3's?? I love the bass from the 6.5 inch driver in the sub woofer, and I wouldn't mind something larger. :ohyeah:

The mids and highs in the ATP's are just perfect. I would want to better that!

I looks lot different to ATP3 and it also lot better. nothing better than this one under 7k. But you need a good soundcard

@frank: First get a decent sound card (Creative Audigy value or better), you'll be amazed by the sound output from your ATP3.

DONT! dont suggest him anything... Hes gonna start another show-off thread- frankmehta gets ?#$%#$?#$%:P

Dayuuumn!! So many people across the forum recommending the MX 5021! ;-)

Not bad for a speaker design that has been released more than 5 and a half years ago!

^ Yeah they are more than 5 years old and have gone through a few revisions as well but you can't judge them by how old they are or their price , you need to hear it to believe it.The MX5021's are infact legendary. One of the best speakers you can find in the range of under 10k.When paired with a good sound card and modded , it can almost match up a pair of entry level booksheves :D.

Honestly, I wont suggest MX5021 anymore. Reason is that in the recent times, the build and sound quality of MX has been degraded a lot.

People with older lot have got the best ones available. New ones are just shyt.

For an eg

I have my MX since 3 years

Wingy has got them since 18 months or so.

My mx sounded a lot better than his. His were missing the bass.

Even the people who have managed to get new ones all over the forums (Different forums) had complained that MX dont sound that legendary anymore.

Go for something else. I dont know what are your options available for your budget, but I sure will ask you not to go for a new MX. Lay your hands on an old one (Old enough) if you can.

got my MX 5021 yday, although i have not heard the old one , but didnt notice any bass missing or so

clarity was superb and could feel the difference from my vs4121

If you are shifting from a lower end sound system, you will feel MX better. But if you hear the older or the better ones and then listen to the new ones, you will feel the crappyness.

same here. been using MX-5021 for couple of months and never faced that bass-missing issue. And yes, the quality is bit less when compared to the original one but still it's better than any other set in under 7k. Also, in case of more money at disposal, get Alte Lansing Expressionist Ultra.
