If you can extend your budget to 26k-27k, Samsung Galaxy S would be perfect for you. Inside 25k, check HTC Legend.

Samsung Galaxy S I9000 will be best option for you , if u can extend ur budget by 2.5k . Phone is expected to get software updates till Android 3.0 ( Not sure , but the Specification is fulfilled)

Its getting 2.2 (Froyo) in a month or two :D

Its Slim , isn't really bulky .

Saw the HTC Legend in person yesterday at the concluded TE meet. A brilliant phone it is. The unibody Alu construction lends it an awesome feel and the Eclair OS and the Sense UI was kickass. The phone has an amazing response to touch in comparison to the iPhone. The 5 Mp cam is pretty decent and clicks good pics both indoors included. OTOH, I saw the Samsung Spica I5700 with another fellow TE member and although the phone is VFM for ~12k, the build quality is bad - if not pathetic. The response to touch is slightly inferior compared to the Legend/iPhone.

I am not comparing a 12k worth phone to the Legend here but you should probably see the Galaxy S in person before buying it. The build quality may not appeal to some. :)

I agree. The two major faults with the Galaxy S are 1) Samsung's UI is really bad to look at and 2) the build quality is really bad for a phone of that price. It's like a plasticky iPod. Other than that the phone seems kickass by all reports. But those two flaws are complete dealbreakers for me.

just look for silicon skin for GS. The build quality seems a bit on the weaker side but the phone is strong. Coming to the UI, the new TouchWiz 3.0 is lot better than earlier versions. Though it is not as good as SenseUI, it does really well.
