A word of caution on cheap card readers - they've very low read/write cycle...i've used around 6 of them and they never lasted me more than a month of moderate use...
Don't know about Amkette ones, but other cheap, unknown brands have this issue..

true, i have one & it reads/wries really slow, then i bought a internal card reader w/ usb port, it gives 100% more speed.

+ i was using HP's front panel usb & card reader port (from old desktop), that was also very very slow, but the new card reader has improved performance by an easy 100%

altho the card reader is also local/chinese make

dunno what could have been the reason for HP's low performance. (2006 model)

but then again a good one like transcend's card reader here sells for like 600rs! then I end up thinking I get 10 chinese ones in that much money! or a chinese Gamepad, or a box of 50DVDs or somethin else chinese in huge numbers!
