Washing machine help! EDIT: Bought Bosch WAG14060IN front loader

Anyone want to comment on how the Bosch handles light loads say 2-3kg, when it comes to spin. Lighter loads are supposed to trigger out of balance errors and require either redistributing the load or spinning at lower revs. That is if some items soak in more water than others ie towels or heavy cottons.

How much of an issue has out-of-balance errors been with Bosch machines ?

out of balance sensing is done to protect the machine and save it from extra wera & tear as well as walking around the room.

This seems the biggest barrier to move to bigger machines, if you can't give enough of a load then you face spin issues. Better get a machine that suits your needs and it works better. Spins better and wash gets less delayed as chance of oob error is low and no need for the machine to make efforts to redistribute before commencing the cycle.
 
Auto load sensing works on BOSCH. First it automatically decides how much water it needs & add water later in the cycle. Result is that along with water saving the cleaning also improves. In my old IFB this feature was missing so cleaning quality was affected a lot on smaller loads.

Also regarding Auto balance the machine reduces the rpm & tries to redistribute the load as well with slow spins in opp. direction. Seen this once in my machine

How often have you noticed your clothes come out of the machine wet because the machine failed to reach max rpm in the spin cycle ?

Presumably this happens more often with lighter loads than heavier ones.
 
^... 2-3 times, even I was baffled about this earlier thinking something wrong with the machine... Ignored it when other load results were better...

This is true for T-Shirt load...

Why won’t washing machine spin just one item or very small loads?

It means if you get a big machine you must load it up sufficiently. This way you get to save energy. But that isn't always practical, sometimes you want to do less items.

So you have to get a smaller machine and do more frequent washes.

cannot get a midrange or high end 6kg machine from bosch, they are all entry level, only the bigger capacity machines are higher end ..which Bosch don't sell in India anyway (!)
 
^. I've WAX18260IN 6Kg machine... Not the most feature rich but still acceptable set though...

Left the higher capacity ones since they were not practical for my typical use & also much more expensive...

Which programs do you use the most often ?

Any comments about super 15/30 or speed wash option.
 
Mostly Mix followed by Hygiene, Wool, Outdoor, Sport....

Used Super 15/30 only 2-3 times... that to for washing an empty machine with vinegar... Only once for washing a T-shirt which I'd accidentally dropped after washing with others (during removal)... The T-Shirt was not as dry as it was earlier when it was removed with other load. I thought since its done in 15 mins then it mush have been rinsed & dried at lower rpm hence its comparatively wet...

I've not thought about SpeedWash yet since I normally wash with intense & extra rinse option selected (along with SpeedWash)... Will watch out if only with Speedwash the load is drier or not...

Your model is no longer available on the bosch site. They have substituted with other models that do not have the mix option, instead its now called daily wash. You're supposed to use a 2.5kg load with this.

Yes. and as you now know its because one item led to oob and the machine handled it gracefully with a lower spin speed instead of refusing to do the wash.

Speedwash speeds up the program by using optimisations so the wash takes less time to complete. To be used only with half load ie 2.5kg. if load is more then speedwash won't clean as well and should not be used. Well, you still could if the load is lightly soiled. YMMV.

Drier is a function of balance, well balanced and you get to max spin rpm otherwise it will be slower and come out more wet.

So 2.5 kg should be the min load for washing otherwise the results would be non-satisfactory...
Will avoid Speedwash for most loads.. its only few mins. extra added to the programme anyway for a Mix cycle..
I've myself balanced the machine & it doesn't wobble or make much noise @ 900rpm but in most cases I select 800rpm to check the noise/rattling....

idea is it reduces the time for the wash cycle to complete, i was thinking it might at least halve it since the load is less.

i notice in the wax18269IN manual, that loads are not mentioned at all under programs. I found this info in the manual of the WAB2026IN under daily wash. Daily wash and mix are identical. So if you use the mix program then you should use a lighter load ie 2.5kg. Thing is they also include the speedwash option for mix or daily wash, so that means even faster. Though i don't see why it applies as these options are for lighter loads anyway and will have shorter cycle times.

If you use the cottons cycle then you can load up more but time to complete is longer.

During installation the machine must be level and on firm ground.

by oob i mean spinning a heavy (when wet ie heavy cotton) item with other light items causes imbalance. it needs to be countered with other heavy items. Otherwise it won't reach 800rpm, maybe 400 and then quit.

The idea is this will happen more often with bigger drums and lighter loads than with smaller drums.

thread here quite helped in knowing about bosch and siemens and other brands y'day. got a bosch WAK24268IN (7kg) booked y'day from kohinoor electronics for 31.5k(also available on amazon for ~33k).
 
so finally got the washing machine delivered y'day after a delay of a week!

did any of you take extended warranty for your bosch/siemens washing machines? the demo-guy gave me a form today to read and fill-up if ext. warranty is reqd., and which is to be given within a few days to avail introductory offers (5k for 2 yrs' extension for a machine <=40k worth of price). if the ext. warranty is anytime taken 20 days after the purchase then the introductory prices wont apply and you'll have to pay more. this is what he told me. anybody knows more about this?

How much more do you have to pay if you don't take the extended warranty ?

What does the extended warranty cover. is it the same as the manufacturers warranty. have to be clear on what it does and more importantly does not cover.

These warranties are like betting in the casino. They bet you won't need them and you are betting you will.

House has the advantage, though not always ;)
 
nothing if not buying ext. warranty. price of the washing-machine has already been paid. the ext. warranty is the same as the mfr-warranty; covers the same components and doesn't cover again the same things as in mfr-warranty.
 
Oh i get it, the extended warranty will be cheaper for twenty days after purchase after which it becomes more.

Introductory price is 5k so after twenty days how much more will it be ?

Did you check these terms out on their website btw ie after 20 days more expensive
 
sorry for the late reply.
turned out that the post 20-day window-period price was just 500 bucks more, but in that you could avail only 1 extra year of warranty as against the 2 you could have when registered within the 20-days period.
