Most of you must be knowing this, but for those who dont,...heres some good news for you guys.
Your ps2 is capable of playing all sorts on divX and xvid files. So now watch ur entire movie collection on big screen, and no need to buy the phillips DVP 642
Anyways, heres the dope,..almost 90% of all mod chips installed are capable of playing the reality media player; required to play your movies.
Below are links provided, download the player,..its a cd image, and burn it on a cd-r (cd-rw's fail to work on ps2)
*Start ur ps2 with the reality player cd in it, and go on hitting x till u reach the main menu.
*Say 'load media player from cdROM' at the main screen.
*It'll load the media player,...proceed by hitting x untill you see the main menu.(after a *ahem cough cough* warning,... u'd see somethign like player, browser, save options etc etc with some midi music happning in the bg.)
*Now flip open ur cd top (slim v12) or eject ur cd (fatboy) and replace it with
your movie cd (divx/xvid codec/mp3/jpeg only)
*go to 'browser' by pushing x
*Select your movie file and clik x
*let it index,buffer...and voila !!
It just takes 3 min of your time to put in the 'media player cd' and swap it with your movie cd.
It has numerous settings like screen offset, pal/ntsc,colour depth, quality etc etc.
Go through them and experiment.
This also plays mp3 cd's and is also an image viewer.
Best part is, you can even view all of ur foreign films with subtitle files in it.
.srt and .sub files are also recognised. just push 'select' on ur analog controller to select subtile files if any in the same folder. :cool2:
If u have the slim version, u have a built in network adaptor, there are numerous settings to change ur network settings aswell. There are settings which allow u to input the gateway address etc which u do not get in the normal default network settings.
Also u can play movies from a HDD (if connected) from ur ps2.
This media player has been working gr8 for me. Do ask if any doubts, will be glad to answer.
