Watch Recommendations

I am a total n00b in this area so i just wanted some opinons/recommendations regarding Watches.

Budget
$400-500

Features
Alarm Mandatory except that everything else is bonus

No digital watches
Can anyone educate me about the Different type of Movements and the ones to look out out for?
What are the other parameters to judje a watch though?

For that kind of budget you can get some really good automatic watches but can't expect Alarm on these. Or you can go for the Chronograph types. The Different types of movements are applicable only to Automatic watches.
Other parameters to look out for would be the glass on top, go for scratch proof ones I think sapphire. Then Water resistantance etc.. .

I am looking at the Citizen Skyhawk Range as of now though ...
