Storage Solutions WD AAKS 640 : Current Pending Sector Count warning ...

This morning I could not boot windows, the hdd led kept on glowing. Tried 2 -3 times finally booted up. Crystal DiskInfo shows a "Caution" sign with Current Pending Sector Count flagged with raw value 1E.

I backed up important data to another hdd.

Is the hdd dying ? Should/can I contact WD for a replacement ?

Edit : WD Data LifeGuard does not show any error !

Don't worry mate, that error is encountered when the HDD tries to read a sector and fails to do do, so it marks it. Next time when it will be successfully read, it will be marked out and there will be no Current Pending Sector Count error.

But if the HDD consistently fails to read that sector, it will be marked as a bad one. I guess it is ok and with time it will disappear, i too got this error multiple time but now it is ok.

It generally appears when the HDD is stopped abruptly
