Hey folks , need help .

My Hard drives are getting full . Currently i have 2x160+640+1TB+2x500 .

Want to have proportional hard drives and need more space as well as performance . Have narrowed down to 2 models .

1 . WD black 2TB . Online price is like 7500k each so for like 21-22k i get 6 GB of humongous space .

2 . WD Velociraptor 600 GB . My Mother-in-law is coming from US and there this hard drive is for 270 USD which would be like 12k to 13k . So i was thinking of getting 2 of these and then one WD black 1TB or like 2 WD GREEN 1TB each .

I don't game much on PC , mostly game on Xbox 360 - PS3 . Need suggestions .

Max i can shell out is like 30k .

I have never used any hard drive manufacturer other than the WD and the they have been very reliable for me . I was planning to get those WD black from u . Ur answer has not cleared my doubts yet .

The hybrid drives are pointless for data storage.

Again, having seen how SSDs perform, I'll never recommend a Velociraptor either. Way too much premium for comparatively wayy lower performance.

Get the cheapest/biggest/most reliable drive you can find for storage (the blacks are again not worth the premium if your usage is just data storage) and get a small SSD for a boot drive.

You are a 'Data Recovery Expert'
More importantly, you are the vendor for a product which the OP is asking suggestions about.

I don't see how, I as a third-party would have ulterior motives in suggesting something that is clearly not worth the money. It's not like I'm asking him to go ahead and buy my harddrive which is on sale in the market section :)

Well,

Fenix Is More Known To Me Then You think ,Secondly i do not have any reservations if he does not want to buy from me at all .My point is that those hdd he is talking about are definately better then those lousy hdd that you are suggesting him and saying that what he is planning to buy is pointless .

1. That you know him better makes no difference to me.
2. I haven't suggested any particular HDs.
3. I just gave my opinion based upon the returns for what could possibly be his investment.
4. At the end of the day he's probably, still gonna come by your store to buy it :P

Nope ,

its not like this its his wish from where he wants to buy it ,My point is that the black is a very reliable drive ,It rarely fails And The Velociraptor is very fast and also reliable but damn expensive .The Barracudda XT is a Newer Thing and its reliability is yet to be tested more

Actually, the XTs HAVE been having reliability issues. Atleast in so much as views on forums are to be trusted. I am tempted to believe them simply because these are first gen products. There HAVE to be teething issues.

My core2Duo 8400 performs better than i7 860 because I have installed an SSD in it. Go for SSD as the boot drive instead of paying the premium for HDD's.
