Hello friend , for some reason am unable to add tags but here it goes . This is the problem I have .

1. My WD 500gb blue harddisk is not performing well . I have uploaded the pictures , kindly tell me whats wrong in it because even after troubleshooting , Defragmenting and Disk cleaning , It continues to be the same .

2. In one of the pic you will notice that my harddisk shows SATA II and UDMA which is shocking , my HDD is SATA III .

3. The transfer speed am getting is also pathetic , 25-30 mb/s from my harddrive to itself and to any other external hdd using USB 3.0 .

Here is the link for my HDD so that you can know the complete specifications .

So please help me troubleshoot the three problems , I will be highly grateful to you , as you know the current HDD prices , I would not be able to afford a new one .

Thanks and have a good day .

Your transfer speed charts show sudden big drops in speed which indicates a problem.

Is the disk and CPU free during the testing?

Try another SATA cable.

Check SMART parameters.

HDTune's Health tab should report SMART statistics.

Does your motherboard support SATA III?

Your drive wont exceed SATA II speeds, so not a major concern.

Thanks for the reply sir .

Yes I did see to it that the Cpu and Disk were free during testing , i closed all other softwares before starting the check up .

Other SATA cable used , no help .

Yes my motherboard does support SATA III ( Gigabyte E350N USB3 - motherboard model number ) .

This drive may not exceed the speed but why is it showing SATA II ? . Another problem is I was thinking of an SSD , so if there is some problem you might find with my system , then it may go waste ! .

Thats the concern .

I do not know how to interpret SMART charts but here is it , I have uploaded a picture , please help me find any problems .

Thanks again for your time .

SMART looks fine. So disk might be ok.

Has this problem started recently? Maybe driver issues?
