Storage Solutions WD essentials vs Seagate GoFlex vs Seagate Freeagent: 1TB HDDs. Need to order asap

Hey guys

Assuming that money is relatively not an issue.

And assuming that I want max performance with max warranty and reliability, which of these 3 portable 2.5" 1TB HDDs should I go for:

1. WD Essentials SE

2. Seagate Freeagent

3. Seagate GoFlex

Also, has Seagate reduced it's warranty to 2 years for it's portable HDDs too?

I have WD My Passport SE 1TB USB 3.0

Its been great.. I get transfer speeds of upto 55MBps(USB 2.0). Yet to test it on USB 3.0

Its a 5400Rpm drive.

PROS:

Really Small

Good Transfer speeds

Easy Backup with WD SmartWare

Silent Operation

Doesn't Get Hot at All(Tested for 12hrs at a stretch)

CONS:

The Body is prone to scratches very easily..

Proprietary connectivity port for HDD, so getting an aftermarket cable is Difficult..

These are just my views..

Bought from FlipKart. So check there for other models too

BTW Regarding Seagate GoFlex. My friend has it and the Transfer speeds were as low as 18mbps for single 4GB file

I recommend WD over Seagate anyday

You are wrong. You can even use a USB micro B 2.0 cable with that one. There are two types of USB ports . One is Mini B and the other Micro B. USB 2.0 have both kinds. But USB 3.0 has only the Micro B type. The USB 3.0 port is an addition to the USB 2.0 Micro B port. So you can plug in a USB 2.0 micro B cable at the right side of the port.

55Mb/s read or write?

I always though GoFlex was the fast one. If its transfer speeds are so low then its better to go for freeagent.

Anyone knows about the seagate warranty on portable drives?

Superlike..!! I didn't knew that.. was searching for after market cable at lammy.. couldn't find it below 900 bucks.. Thanks for suggestion.. plugging it into a long USB 2 micro cable and joining it to LCD would take care of my problem..

IMO a USB 2.0 cable has some lenght restriction beyond which you will experience issues. Somewhere in web i found that the length should be within 1.5 mts for cables which plug portable HDDs and not sure about other devices...
