Long story short...

WD My Passport 500gb drive, 2010 manufactured drive...

while listening to music the it started looping a few seconds of the song, and gave me a windows write error. I unplugged/plugged it back in to the laptop and nothing.

Now all I hear is a small clickling sound that brought me back in time to the early 2000's when my brand new maxtor 160gb died after 3 days of use...CLICK CLICK CLICK

Someone suggested that if the drive shows up in the BIOS there could be hope..in the case this happens, what should I do?

thanks in advance

Is it being recognized by Windows? If no, then RMA it. Go to device manager and see if anything is showing up over there. Try connecting it to other computer or laptop. If no, then drive is dead, go RMA it
