Storage Solutions wd passport with router issue

just bought wd passport essentials 500gb usb3 drive and when i connect it to my buffalo router wzr hp 300nh it gets detected but after some time later is gets unmounted all by itself..really annoying problem downloads hang up errors etc problems..its like wasted money...is there a solution..my 16 gb usb drive works great with router..any solution ??

are these wd passport waste?
 
I suggest you upgrade your firmware.that should help. What format is your drive in? IS it ntfs or fat?
