Hi i always had a concern relating to upgrading to Raptor or SSD i just really want to know by upgrading to these HDD will it def give a huge performance boost . We normally use this HDD for O.S Booting , making application run faster or gaming but does that really make a huge diff . I really want know what would be perormance Gap . OuR Current WDBLACK / .12 series are really fast so when u compare it with Raptor or SSD will the difference be noticiable.Kindly provide ur Views.
 
Drop the SSD right now..very dam expensive. Go for Velociraptor they are great drives. I am using a 300 gb one. There is a huge difference between normal drives and these. The response time is great. OS boots very fast. Good transfer rates.

300 gb ->11k

150 gb -> 8k
 
I didn't have budget ... so went for VelociRaptor 300GB for OS :) ... but if u choose SSD then choose carefully because all SSD doesn't perform like advertised
 
SSD really is a huge boost in performance i've seen that in my office we have installed some 8 * 160 GB SSD's in a server they are awesome..... But as everyone said if you have the budget go for it.... in my opinion go for raptors in Raid 0
 
1)Get another WD 640AAKS Black and use it in a Raid 0 array.

2)Get an SSD once the tech. matures a bit more and prices come down.
