courier guy came to my office another day after my complaint & picked my HDD & gave me a replacement after a week

WD warranty ROCKSSSSSSSSS

Ok i had a similar prob... 45 days later i had kinda had enuf of em... it was a 1tb my book essential...

This is what i did

1) obviously i was very rude to whosoever came on the phone.

2) for any 2 days 3 days that they would say, i would take the same from them on mail.

i would call in the morning and the min they would say that sir the hdd will arrive in say 3 days, i would ask a confirmation mail for the same. This happened 6 times and ofcourse i had 6 useless mails.

3) i would force the representative to get a senior on the line. Obviously i was extremely rude and loud at some of them. Thoise who would get nervous would get a senior on the line.

I spoke to 3. Priyanka, Ravi sharma and Mayank. Mayank btw is the guy incharge.

Anyways even after this nothing really happened..

4) next i wrote a mail to wd USA and wd singapore. Singapore because all hdd stock to India comes from Singapore. The mail was a full pager mentioning in detail the day to day inconvenience caused, strong words like Governance were used..

Attached to it were the 6 mails confirming that wd india was simply lying to me since 2 mts. The mails added as concrete proof.

Wd usa fwded the mail to Mr Mayank. 2 days later i got a mail from Mayank stating that my Hdd will be sent immediately.

I wrote back stating to wdd usa, singapore ccing mayank that i think he is lying again to me like he and his co workers were doing since the last 2 mts.

He assured me that this time i will get my hdd...

5 days later, i had a 2tb my book delivered to me...

are WD LIARS? .. definitely.

did they give me also all the excuses that you have mentioned above?... absolutely.

Cheers

i am thinking of getting a wd HDD and blowing it up and later send it for RMA, so that they can double up the space.

As i can see most of you are getting double space after RMA, lucky fellows

Blow it up using a C4 and then try getting a RMA done ..They might just send you lifetime supply of SSDs :P

WHAT? why is everyone saying 50 days etc. I once went to Seagate service centre to RMA my HDD and got replacement inside two weeks time. That was really really fast. I kind of dropped the HDD but there were no questions asked. They just replaced it.

Did you read the title of the thread and all the posts before yours.

WD rma issue, not Seagate. :| Also seems like you do not know of new procedure for Seagate rma. The OP posted his issue as it has taken unusually long and irresponsible behaviour on WD's part.

Post if being of help, not for timepass please.

They used to be very prompt- they picked up the faulty HDD from your place and a week's time roughly and they sent a new drive- not a certified repaired like Seagate.

Many prefer WD due to that and have issues with Seagate rma timings coincide with work timings.

If he uses C4, the bare minimum they can send is SSD considering the expenses incurred to procure the former. lol

got no money for c4:ohyeah:, i am thinking to give it some high voltage of 220v instead of regular 5v and 12V:bleh::bleh::bleh:

@godfather. Can you please mind your own business SIR. And please read my earlier comments on the same. The best way for the OP to get this sorted is by going to consumer court, which 10 times out of 10 results in ultra fast actions from the support/dealer.

Also, which of your comments are in-line with OPs request? C4, SSD, tee hee hee, seagate rma timings? You need to take a look at self before pointing finger at others!

This should be your immediate destination not TE forum : Consumer Complaint in Consumer Forum in India

Your very first comment was- do not post rma issues on TE and head to Consumer court for rma issues, even before contacting the concerned authorities/company guys? :|

have you tried it genius? In fact, why don't you give it a shot?

You had no clue but chose to post for the heck of it imho.

The problem is you fail to grasp the intent of a post and merely read the words.

The following was the perfect procedure and thanks to him for helping out the OP.

There shouldn't really be such issues with WD RMA. Their RMA updates on the site isn't very up to date .The status of HDD received by WD was updated 1 month after I received the actual replacement .:P

Everytime there is any delay from their side , I just shoot a mail to wddirect.india@wdc.com. With 1-2 days I get a reply from someone at higher authority and I also get a call back from WD Delhi when I leave my number in the mail .

Try sending a mail to wddirect.india@wdc.com.If you don't get a reply , let me know .Will forward you contact details of 2 people who are at the top level at WD India. :)

Reps pending to this dude. :)

^Guys cut some slack. His issue seems to have been resolved already!

@desiibond: Recommending the CORE or other such consumer help oriented forums will never help. Those guys seldom know about electronics and hardware, let alone offer help. Let the other members of the forum be intimated of such issues as well.

Not to you...

... but I think just because of few followers of such tactics genuine users face lots of problem as HDD makers get strict day by day with RMA policy...

... just like all cellular companies in India start charging for Customer Help Calls

We Indian customers must come out of such mentality in Benfit of mass & country image :(

it's consumer help forum for technology. Instead of we taking the hassle of going to consumer court and filing case etc, they do it for us and they don't expect money as they are NGO.

Guys I need a little help here. My WD 1TB Black is having 1-2 bad sectors which is irrepairable with the WD diaganostic application. I bought this HDD for performance but all I get is delay startups, ocassional lags... I guess bad sectors is good enough for RMA. Guys should I courier them or asked them to pick up? I want to know which process is fast. BTW most couriers guys in my area are too lazy that they ask me to pick up from their office. Only Blue Dart guys do home delivery. So asking them to pick could it be a swift process? BTW usually to which couriers do WD asked to pick.

A little offtopic: anyone having problems with RMA may contact:

Code:
servicewatch@thinkdigit.com

Check this thread out:
Cheated by Viewsonic - Resolved by Digit - Digit's Technology Discussion Forum

For those who may not want to visit, long story short:

Guy's Viewsonic monitor develops large black spots. Monitor is in warranty. He mails Viewsonic. They mail back asking for pictures of the monitor. He mails them the picture. They refuse the RMA request saying that the monitor has been damaged by the user. Guy mails Digit magazine and soon enough he gets a response from them. They contact Viewsonic, and Viewsonic is quick to contact the guy and within five days the monitor is replaced. Guy is happy. End of story.

Even my wd green was showing 4 to 8 kb bad sectors. Diagnostics were also not completing. I deleted all partitions and recreated them. Later when i ran chkdsk - it didn't show any bad sectors and quick diagnostics also completed fine.

WD must be having an automated process - where their partner courier services (like gati, tnt, blue dart etc) near to your place is asked to pickup.
It will be faster if you go and hand it over to blue dart
