I bought a WD320 AAKS HDD last year from my freind for 3000/- who purchased it from Lynx, due to financial reasons he had to sell that drive
It worked great for 6-8 months after that the drive started making grinding noise, the noise happens when going into lets say the Windows\System32 folder or into folder having large number of directories in it
On the normal front it does not make any noise or sometimes when moving a file, apart from that during normal usage theres no noise
I called up WD, who promptly told me to send the drive for RMA, which I did and was surprised to get a WD500 the same AAKS series in return, I was all smiles, but I notice that it also was doing the same thing, the grinding noise, the HDD is connected to the Cabinet using screws and not the Plug and Play connectors as I like it to be connected firmly
Anyone with the same model can shed some light
Thanks in advance
