I thought you were getting it for 4.7k + tax here in bangalore? why not start a Go saar ?:eek:hyeah:

lol HDD & GO....no way :p

U know i cant get out of ma house nw....so want it couriered frm Amarbir ..if he can give us a good deal :)

I'm also looking for a 500+ gigger. Confused between the Seagate and this...At Rs 4900 VS 6500 (seagate 7200.11) I'd say more price per GB for this one. The only problem...Its freakin unavailable. Mumbai guys help!

what calculater r u using :O

5800/750 = 7.73333

4800/640 = 7.5

And ya performance wise the WD 6400AAKS will be way way better.

The HDDs fighting it out are

WD 6400AAKS, Segate 7200.11 500GB & 750GB.

The WD 750GB is based on 187GB platter which is quite old old tech :p

That why pricing is dropping almost everyday :)...u can expect them to sell around 5.5k mark soon. I have a 7500AAKS drive and ya its slower than both the seagate 750GB sv35.2 & Seagate 500GB 7200.11

dont forget that in HDD specs 1 "gig" is 1,000,000,000 bytes that means "750g" is about 698.5 "gigabytes" or "gibibytes" depending on how you want to call it :)

dont you feel bad losing 50gb right away :p

Have the 640GB drive with me now.

Sorry for the lousy pic :D . Had a long day, just picked up the drive around 7.30.

The access time seems to be quite high. can you plz check the AAM value in it?

Here is the link for the utility

http://www.rt-sw.de/freeware/silentdrive.zip

Start the utility & see if AAM (acoustic/noise management) is set to quiet/average. In case it is change it to lod and retest using HD tach...plz do it now if possible since I m planning to pick up one tmr :D

Set the drives for cloning and fell sleeping..

Supra, I did use the utility you sent but it doesn't detect the drive. Either the utility is not compatible with XP x64 or the drive isn't comp. with it. Ran HDtach again and got same result, although burst speed was upto 240MB/s.

Now, the random access times should be around 12.4ms mark, so I'm going to look at it again in the morning. Maybe someone else can get a drive to check or if someone already has?

Did check with NCQ off but got same result.
