Website hosting for an absolute amateur.

Ok. So I bought a domain and I want to create a website that people can open up. Ideally I would like it to be as much drag and drop as possible and as cheap as possible (I dont anticipate a lot of traffic). The website just needs to have a presence (as in, I am not selling anything on it or allowing users to sign up for something), so something very basic. Like 3-4 pages and thats it. Think of it more like a billboard.

What would you guys recommend?

I would ideally like to use a provider that has some themes pre built that I can edit and then just connect to my domain. Looked at squarespace and its hella expensive. Would the cheapest plan here suffice and include everthing? https://www.hostinger.com/in#pricing

What other decent alternatives do I have? Would prefer to not pay more than 300 Rs per month.

If you have a homelab, you can self host the website. A static HTML/PHP website without any database would be fastest without any practical load on your server.
Get help from chatgpt and make your html files yourself.

If you have this small a requirement then it will be better for you to host a static website on GCS bucket for a few rupees a month instead of taking a full fledged website hosting plan ?

Like asking what soundbar to buy and being told to build your own speakers.:cry::cry::cry:

I dont think you guys appreciate how much of a ****ing idiot I am to even attempt to do this lmao

Google has a service called google sites. It is completely free, and drag and drop. If you're willing to go through the hassle of learning basic html and css, you can use a service like netlify and vercel(both have generous free tiers). Google site should be more than enough for your use case imo.

Man, telling you, life was much easier in early 2000s when we could just use MS Frontpage to create few html pages and upload those to FTP of your domain. And then everything else happened (can't even imagine what all happened, lol). I fully agree with you.

What you probably want is a simple static website, you can probably get one with simple html + css + javascript and host it for free, forever. Static sites can be hosted for free on Cloudflare pages, Netlify or Vercel. Now this would be as cheap as possible. As for the easiest I'd say its Wix, it comes with some templates and when its on sale, its like 2400 per year.

Will silver not suffice? And does that have a website builder?
The silver plan does not have the website builder I think. While the gold one does.

This is the most common cpanel hosting services. Cpanel is the most popular web hosting control panel. There is plenty of help online.

Though I occasionally use a VPS/cloud service, nothing beats the convenience of some quick and cheap cpanel hosting website setup. It is good for a beginner.

Don't get into a longer period subscriptions so that if you don't like the hosting service you can move onto something else without losing money. Also it is better to have the domain registered some place else as you should not have the domain control dependent on the hosting provider.
