Yeah, it is weird and I'm really disappointed not to find the reason. I've scheduled connection to dial up at 2:02AM . It starts at the specified time. But when I wake up in the morning abt about 6.30-7AM, I see the following :

You can see that 'BSNL' is connected and yet there is a yellow icon ( problem ! ) on the task bar network status icon. Plus BSNL is not listed to the 'Currently conneced to' list like the following:

The above was taken while the internet was working.

I've checked to be sure that no internet is available. Funny thing is that whenever I try to disconnect it, it doesn't. Itried using commands ( RASDIAL ) and it just shows connected / disconnected to the corresponding. The only way to connect it again is to restart the computer. That means the problem lies in the OS not in the ADSL router.

I've checked my usage in dataone and I found that the line drops at random time like 2.45 / 3.25 etc. i.e. no fixed time for disconnection. So no scheduled script is causing this.

I also tried adding 3 reconnect scripts at 2.50,3.45 and 4.55. No result.

I'm very confused what to do now. My 2AM-8AM download slot goes wasted. :(

I was also facing this problem. But unpluging and pluging the RJ-45 jack in ADSL router fixed my problem. First I thought it's a Win7 problem. But it's not. Just make sure everything is perfectly connected.

None :P I mean the default windows firewall. But why only at night ? :S

OT: your signature is similar to that of Anubis :P

If ur on Win 7 then , dont worry, re-install or download the VISTA lan driver & run it in compatibility mode install it & see ur problem get solved :)

Coz the Win7 drivers arent that much optimized to work :(

Hm.......luks like really wired problem. But I also faced the same exact problem. But in my case it was the loose RJ-45 jack in ADSL router.

Yup....!! I use this signature from 2006 in TDF.....!! N here anubis copied it....!! :-)

Well, it happened again last night. The line dropped at about 3AM. :( I've checked all connection and didn't put my rig to sleep this time. Today I downloaded the lan driver from Biostar site. Previously I didn't install any driver as Win 7 has it all. But I wonder why at that particular time ?? :O

As u r mentioning continuously the word "particular time".......r u sure there is no malware or sumthing like that?? What AV do u use?? Try Malwarebytes to scan for malware. And as u've downloaded the drivers monitor today and report if the same is happening

I use KAV 2010 with regular updates. This problem occurred sometimes in my previous Win 7 on the other HDD too and the time varied between 3AM to 5AM. But this time it is worse. Line disconnects regularly at about 3-3.30AM. I've updated the LAN drivers and will give a last shot tonight. Otherwise I have to think some other ways.

And again :@ This time I logged in at 11PM ( i.e. no schedule log in ) and even then the line dropped.

Guys, anyone tried torrent with monsoon/ktorrent in SuSE ?? Seems like thats the only option for me as I can't waste time reinstalling everything :(

Whatever, I figured out a solution. I've added a script to restart windows at 3AM,4AM,5AM and 6AM. The connection script is still at 2:02AM.

Now, I've added the connection script and utorrent in the startup list. Still 15-20 minutes are wasted for rebooting but at least better than nothing.

I don't know what was/is causing the disconnection but restarting solves the issue.
