Have been playing my PS3 Slim on my Samsung 46" LCD fopr the last couple of weeks....but today, when i turned ON the TV, no display- just black screen.Tried resetting the console, but problem prevails.TV identifies the input, but screen goes all black right afterwards.

Connection: HDMI for display directly to TV, audio via component through AVR.

What all i tried:
Connecting PS3 to another HDMI port on the LCD : Failure

Connecting the same HDMI cable from PC to same LCD HDMI port : Success

Connecting PS3 to 21 inch CRT via component: Success

Connecting PS3 to 50 inch Samsung Plasma via same HDMI cable: Success

Plz help me with all things i could try to get this solved....Thanx a million in advance.

Could you try a hard reset? When the console is in standby, hold the power button for like 5 seconds, until it beeps and restarts. The display should turn up.

Gannu: I dont think that would work cause of "Connecting PS3 to 50 inch Samsung Plasma via same HDMI cable: Success"...but please do try it out I maybe worng.

I think he has played around with some setting on his TV itself, Over Scan or something that is IMO. I thikn its better to reset the TV settings more than the PS3. But then again, we are just trying to trouble shoot.

That happened to me once on my Sony TV. I had to run through the TV set up process again. For some reason it forgot the settings, and all I got was white snow.

Did you try connecting PS3 to your LCD using any other cable than hdmi, like say AV or component cable?

@Gannu: Already reset it multiple times, still no avail.

@Infected:There is only a Reset option for the TV Picture settings, Hit that already and it went back to default values for Contrast , color etc. but no solution.

@asingh: Thanx for sharing, but what was the TV setup process u did bro?

@Kestrel5915: Yup, tried the composite cable, showed up PERFECTLY(though said 576i), tried switching to HDMI form there, went blank and back again to composite.

@Ethan_Hunt: Checking out the thread now bro....thanx alot!!

^^

For me, the first time ever when my LCD was turned on, it asked for a setup process. Date/time and regional settings. Some other generic details were asked. Till that was not done, no display source would be acquired by the LCD.

There is an option for setup and I had to cycle through that again. For some reason the tv forgot the settings and played dumb.

Go to some advance settings there should be an option to reset everything to factory settings.

The PS3 is not dead at all as it works on your other plasma.

The HDMI cable is also fine as it works on the plasma.

Its just your TV settings......

Thanx EVERYONE who helped me!!!!!! Its solved.....wait....BY JUST POWER CYCLING THE TV!!! All i had to do was pull out the TV power cord form the socket, reinsert after 10 seconds and voila! it detected the console in a jiffy.I had turned off the display multiple times in between while troubleshooting, but it was via remote control.

I 'suppose' the problem was HDMI Handshake protocol in the TV and when powered off, it got reset and started anew.

All's well that ends well......thanx a million for all the kind helping comments.GOD BLESS U ALL!!! :) :) :)
