Hi,
I am planning to get a WD MyBook Home Edition 500 GB External Drive. The main draw is the e-sata interface (as opposed to USB 2.0/Firewire on comparable drives). Are there any comparable drives in the same price range (about 5-5.5k) of other brands with esata?

I own the same drive and its great, I dont think there is any comparable drive in the same price range. IIRC the Seagate Freeagent Pro 500gb costs upwards of 7k..
 
WD MyBook Home is very good at this price point.... Only drawback is that it has only 3 years warranty while Seagate comes with 5 years warranty... But then Seagate also cost more for e-SATA...
