Rumors first appeared about two weeks ago that Western Digital planned on releasing 1.5TB and 2TB hard drives. As of today, the rumors are official. WD is introducing its third-generation GreenPower drive series and WD manages to reach the two terabyte milestone first. The latest Caviar Green (WD20EADS) hits the 2TB mark with four 500GB platters, each rated with an areal density of 400Gb/in².

Good one .... HDD is a real scarcity issue for us and WD and SGT are the saviors.

Edit: Ofcourse as AT says, the price $299, is 3 times the cost of individual 1TB green. But lets wait and see and do not loose hope.

I was at Prime a couple of days back and Gulbir mentioned that they were selling these 2TB HDDs, but I forgot to get a price :) Will phone them at 11 and post their price.

I spoke to Meenal and she says now not in stock with Prime and she is checking availability .. I asked price and she said should be around 16-17k ... as soon as I get a pukka price and availability info I will post here.
