Looks AWESOME !!

But pricing is so bad that looks really don't matter..

It should have been SATA-2 IMHO though for that price.

CHIP reviewed it this month and its Cons were given as High CPU Utilization and that it heats up. And 17K for a 150 giger is pure madness.

^^The price ain't that bad considering the fact that the drive sells for around 350$ in the states. High CPU utilization... rofl :P

Western Digital Raptor X – Return of the 10,000 RPM King

Hard drives are vacuum sealed from the factory to prevent the entry of foreign matter on the drive platters. When you open a drive you allow air, moisture and foreign matter into the drive, which results in bad sectors, data corruption and eventually, rendering the drive totally useless. The Raptor X has a factory built in window allowing you to view the drive platters and heads at work, which is a much safer option than doing the mod yourself.

hmm. heating up probs & a cost of 17k. that really sux. i would rather do this, without heating probs, better score & more hdd space.

seagate 160gb x 2 raidx0 array

LOL you really cant compare a raid0 array with a raptor. Both are different animals. Even if you raid 10 7200 drives, you'll still end up with the access latency of a 7200 drive. That really sucks IMHO. The average read/write speed matters only marginally and you won't even notice the diff between 50MB/s and 70MB/s in most cases. But the difference in latencies is noticeable all the time. Having the OS on a 10K drive makes a world of difference.

ya it does make a diff. & it also makes a big diff when i keep the os on raid array. just saying cause this hdd as said in the review is heating up & costs 17k. so this is an alternative.

You cant trust techtree's methods. My 36GB raptor runs cooler than the seagate SATA drives.
