Well my Wd 500 giga disc was rma...I requested for same on 25th june..And on 26th AI GAITI guy came for taking the disc.....

Now today when i check on wd site it still says waiting for your product....whereas on gaiti site it mentions on 28th june only they have delivered the product to WD at delhi address...

On wd site it says when we receive the product we will mail u....But it looks a really long wait since the product is being delivered and hearing nuthin from WD side...

ALso i m pending my disc buying decision to see wht i get ...if i get same size disc ill buy new....else if higher size i can posptpone my new disc buying untill diwali..

what shd i do??
And how many days did it took for u guys who have tried it?
 
dont worry dude....this is normal for WD RMA services...

i gave my disk, and got the replacement within the week ....and still the RMA page had not updated that! LOL

i finally got confirmation of RMA almost 3 weeks after i had received the replacement drive

dont worry...its gonna be smooth!
 
Got my WD MyBook replaced in a month. The drive was sent to Delhi as Saiyan seemed to have put it.

Samsung replaced a 80GB 2.5" PATA HDD in less than 10 days. It was a refurbished drive though.

In any case, you're bound to get a drive of the same capacity considering it's a 500GB drive. :P
 
i also want to rma a western digital hdd, can i go directly to there office and give them the hdd? where is there office in delhi?

It took only two weeks :P
 
Well i got a new HDD in replacement from WD, and to my surprise when i crossed checked the warranty on there site it showed 5 years 3 months warranty on the drive. Was about to sell it but after 4-5 weeks got the confirmation mail from HDD that the new HDD has been dispatch with other details. And later when i checked the warranty part again it shows 3 years 10 months left...

Bottom line the online update process sucks, it takes 2-3 week for the details to reflect online
 
got the disc......bad luk its 500 giga again....

i might put in on sale....and get a 1tb one now i guess
 
Hey Guys,

I received a 250GB HDD for a 320GB which i sent for RMA.

Can I ask them to give me a 320GB one and send this 250GB back.

definitely. i wud put it down to a user error on there side. talk to them, and i dont think you will have any problem in getting them replace the disk
 
I bought 500 GB WD HDD on 6-Jan-2009. From last week HDD was creating lot of cracking sound.Yesterday I found that my windows is not starting Blue Screen Error & restart which clearly says Windows XP can't start because there is error or bad sectors in hdd . Luckly i have another Win 7 Installation, i started & it scans all drive i got bad sector of 8 kb on Win XP drive & after i got working win xp now should i go for replacement ? Will WD Support backup facility or i should arrange backup my self ? ( how you have backup your 500 gb = 106 dvds ? My HDD is allways full ?)
 
Okay, SO my 2 month 11 day old 6400AAKS is dying out(Bad sectors:@), I stay in Bangalore and could anyone tell me how to get my drive replaced?
Procedure? Should i go to a WD RMA center or get the door-to-door replacement facility?

I thought WD had 5years but on its website its listed as 3years:(

Yes someone please confirm this. My WD Caviar Green which I got after RMA has only 3 year warranty whereas my initial drive had 5 years.

I have opened a ticket with WDC support for updating the warranty period but haven't received a response from them.

Edit : I just checked that link and at the bottom of the page its written

ENTERPRISE, DESKTOP, AND NOTEBOOK DRIVES IN INDIA HAVE A 5YEAR WARRANTY
