My laptop HDD is showing signs of dying :(.Random restarts with BSOD and some clicking noise as well ,it started from past one week .Laptop is 2.5 years old ,guess i have to change the HDD .

I am looking at 500GB Western Digital Scorpio Blue OR Seagate Momentus XT?Thought of going for SSD but no use for me as i don't game much nor use any high end apps ,just general usage ;).

Western Digital Scorpio Blue is $100NZD and i get Indian warranty as well.

Seagate Momentus XT is $210 NZD not sure about Indian warranty .

Help me choose a better one ,budget is not an issue if the reliability and speeds are good .

TIA:)

get the wd blue! XT without warranty just sounds like a risk and ssd a overkill for such a old laptop it. the blue should be plenty fun plus ull get alot of space n local warranty, since ur just doin basic things on the laptop anyway, should be cool :ohyeah:

Does seagate have international warranty ??

How is the WD Scorpio Black ,right now i have a Toshiba 5400 RPM HDD ,will i notice a difference in performance if i get a 32MB cache 7200 drive :S

I had the WD5000BEVT (the Scorpio Blue you are referring to) in my N128 netbook for sometime until it conked out. :(

Using a Seagate 320GB now.

should be minimum not a omfg what the f is this sorta change!,, the higher cache will def make it a faster drive in feel and performance. if u can go in for a 7200rpm do so.. but the blacks arent rated that well. (i might be wrong here) but ive seen alot more people get a hitachi / seagate 7200rpm drive then a wd black..

Have 6 WD Scorpion Blue 500GB; 3 in Laptops and 3 in external cases. I guess you know what my opinion is :P

@toxic: Seagate Warranties are international. Bought 3 1.5TBs from S'pore and all of them have warranty in India when i checked with the serial numbers on the website.
