What are a few cool things to do on a vacation in Goa?

I'm planning to go there, near Baga for three days, with my college friends. And this is my first trip there.

What are some things to do that I should keep in mind there? Also, if you have specific places in mind, like some not so expensive nightclubs/casinos, or forts to see, or watersports spots, or whatever that comes to your mind that sounds like fun basically.

Goto Tito's Night Club , walkable distance from baga , pretty awesome place .

Entry Price is quite expensive 1500-2000 bucks not sure , otherwise Mambos next to tito's entry was 450bucks last season .

Find out if any concert is going to happen over there .......

Casino's on the boat near Panjim .

If you are going in Dec you can visit the Goa's Night market , awesome place .

you can easily come out with a cute girl :p

Some of the many things to do -

1. Hire scooteres/ motorcycles and travel from beach to beach.Pick a direction.either North or South.Food(especially) at all beaches are pretty good usually.

2. Flea markets in the night.

3. Every other guy goes to Tito's.If you have lady friends with you.. check out 'Loungefly' or 'Butter'.I hope they still function.I usually dont go clubbing in Goa.

4. There's a good Casino in Baga.Haven't been on the boat casinos.. so no idea.

5. Water sports at Candolim.

Parties usually happen at Vagator or Anjuna. But these could be iffy places attracting the 'high' crowd if you know what I mean.

And then there's Touristy places to check out if you are into it.

Me and my friends are in the same situation

I need to know how much money will be required for a 4 day trip to Goa

it will be like a budget trip and not so costly trip

where exactly to go in goa ?

And what is the best time to go there in the very near future ?

We are planning for a trip in 1st week of december - will it be good or is there any festival season in goa in december ?

I had heard that if you check into Casinos early, they allow you to enter for free. Is that true?

And btw, do any of you know how much would cruizes/water sports cost? And what is the standard entry fee at the nightclubs/casinos?

I'm planning to go there in mid-second week of Jan. Mostly, 10th Jan.

Also, will I get to see the flea markets then during the weekdays?

Thanks!

Avoid going Christmas - New Year time if you have a students budget. It will be crowded with both foreign as well as local tourists. While thats not exactly the problem, it does however affect the prices of hotels, rental vehicles (especially Activas), club entry charges, alcohol, etc. If you want to go to Goa then, it would be unreasonably expensive. Try going a little after that or before that when there is lul in traffic.

Ofcourse, if you can afford the premium because you have lots of monies, then by all means do go. Christmas- New Year week is by far the best time of the year to go to Goa for the parties, crowd, activities and ofcourse, weather.

Btw, is anyone going to Sunburn this year?

Go to calangute and take pleasure of water sports.. Bargain crazy! :p

Go to titto's, carry a girl for free entry, ;) - Its a good place, but beware of firangi nuisance..

Also, there's a beach right after the flea market, don't know the name, but go there, if you wanna see some "ahem"

Visit old goa, for some good places to see and click (for Facebook, as all do)

If you and your friends know, swimming, and are lucky enough, do go snorkeling or scuba diving, a lifetime experience.

Opt for bungalows of residents, as they are darn cheaper, lot cleaner, and very safe to reside.

A word of Caution:

1) Do not listen to people on the road, saying, "sir ekdum acha pub hai, chalo mere saath, that's a cheap way to get customers to a local pub, that stinks in everything it has to offer"

2) Also, do not have an argument with anyone, even if it's their mistake, eventually you will end up shelling out the unnecessary bucks.
3) Also, do not quarrel with travelers, especially foreigners, as they are lot stronger than they seem to be :D

4) Buy booze, but do not try to hide it, just pay the passing guy a 100rs Gandhi, when he asks for license and smile and have a good day... Do the same, while going in Goa too...

5) DO NOT go to a massage parlour at night. Day time is the best time.
All said and done, do enjoy your trip... And have a loads of Fun! Cheers :)

Dude, get the resident bungalows (they are almost half priced, very clean, secure & based at a calm place), to find those, just go to some beach or ask local shopkeepers. Everyone in Goa is a tourist guide ;)

Just back from my trip to Goa, this was my first trip and a pretty awesome one at that.

Place to Stay - a Minute's walk from Calangute beach, You can call this guy Raphiel - 09890223737. Rates for a Non AC Room - 700 per day. AC room 1200 per day. (2 occupants) you can bargain more. December 1st the rates will shoot through the roof.

You can hire your bike from this guy called Surendra - 09822199485. He is right outside Calangute beach. The bikes are well maintained and mostly new. You'l get an activa for 200 bucks per day and Fz/Apaches for 300-400 per day.

At this time of the year water sports at Calangute costed us 400 bucks per person for 4 rides, speed boat, bumping, para sailing, banana boat. Be sure to try these rides. If you have a good budget, Try water sports at Sinquerim beach, 8 kms from Calangute. Its one of the best places to try water sports. Calangute and Baga are quite crowded at all time, be sure to visit Candolim, Anjuna and Little Baga beach.

Mandrem I am guessing is an ahem beach, not sure though, you may want to check. its an hour's drive from Calangute towards Anjuna.

Go clubbing if you have some girl for company, else stag entry is really costly and totally not worth it. Clubs around Baga are best to visit, but they are very costly. Anjuna is again a good place to go clubbing and some clubs there stay open till late in the morning.

If you are big on exploring Goa, make sure you drive to Colva, Palolim and Agonda beach. We stayed at Agonda beach for 1 night. Most amazing place I must've seen. the waters are really clear, and very few people on the beach. We nearly had the entire beach to ourselves.

Will post more on this thread a little later in the evening after I am home from work. Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot man!

The precise price quotes will help planning the tour better. I'm waiting for your other post :)

Btw, one quick question. Was the vicinity and location of Raphiel's rooms decent enough? We are 7 guys and 9 girls..

Raphiel's rooms was a minute's walk from Calangute beach. You can find some more reviews here

Goa Calangute Rapheal's Velankani Guest House

The place is safe and rooms are quite close to each other. Make sure you call him, bargain hard and book the rooms well in advance (a week before your travel). His brother Vincy co-owns the place. You can also call him at 09860270015 or 09158571533. Theres also Vincy's Restaurant which is right next to the guest house and serves cheap yet yummy goan food. Raphiel/Vincy also rent out bikes which can be 50 bucks cheaper than market rates otherwise, make sure you test ride the bikes before hiring them. PM me if you need any more info. Will be happy to help :)
